DIR Sales & Business Development Renewables / Industrials

Job Overview

The EMEA Renewables & Industrial Verticals Sales Director is responsible for developing and leading a sales strategy to drive maximum revenue growth (via direct and indirect sales), account penetration and customer satisfaction for our fastest growing business area. This role will report to the regional Vice President and General Manager of the Energy business unit. The energy business unit sells low to high voltage products to connect cables, protect and insulate power equipment. 
Until two years ago the Energy EMEA organization was mainly focused on the core utility customer segment and missed the revenue growth in new emerging market segments. We created a dedicated sales organization to win in the fast-growing Renewables (wind, solar, battery storage) market and power infrastructure related Industrial Verticals (e.g. DataCenters, Rail/Metro). This role requires someone, who knows the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) market and can leverage our utility brand equity to win this fast-growing market. 
We are looking for an outside of the box thinker and entrepreneurial leader, who will be able to scale-up this business segment with the focus on the fast-evolving renewables market. You would be responsible for leading and building our fastest growing market segment and leading a group of 20+ Vertical Account Managers (VAMs) and Solution Business Development Managers (SBDMs). The energy business unit sells low to high voltage products to connect cables, protect and insulate power equipment. This roles offers the flexibility to work around parenting schedules.

Responsibilities & Profile

Tasks and Responsibilities

Vertical Account Management Team:

  • Scale-up a dedicated renewables and industrial verticals account management team
  • Reallocate resources to high growth verticals and move sustaining accounts to inside sales
  • Drive bill of material application design approvals and market share improvements

Solution Business Development:

  • Build a new SBDM team who are consultative selling experts
  • Develop the market access to win with renewables engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) companies (TE has limited access to them today)
  • Qualify new market opportunities and build the required growth strategy
  • Be the regional sales support for defined underpenetrated and highly differentiated products to get design wins through applied cost advantages
  • Collaborate with customer service to build an inside sales team to qualify renewables leads for the SBDM team
  • Build with the professional services leader our engineering services capability to win with the renewables EPC‘s


  • Contribute to and implement the Energy business strategy
  • Build the teams knowledge and skills to win with EPC customers
  • Prepare and lead with your team the annual large-scale price negotiations to maximize our market share
  • Drive and manage the orders/business forecasting processes. Manage and deploy the business management processes including S&OP & Customer Relationship Management System.
  • Set and review strategic objectives for the sales team. Achieve individual commercial targets (annual sales, forecast accuracy, accounts receivable, price increases) contributing to overall Energy sales targets.
  • Support market mapping activities to define and describe market segments to enable new business development strategies.
  • Develop a sales funnel with sufficient opportunities to enable the fiscal plans to be realised (and to define and execute an action plan to bridge any gaps between the fiscal plan and opportunities).
  • Build multi-level and multi-functional customer relationships including senior management levels.
  • Lead the sales team to effectively use the CRM tool (SFDC)
  • Drive performance driven culture and ensure that the team are fully engaged in TE’s goals and objectives and working in line with ethical policies



  • 7 years+ experience in sales management.
  • Have in depth Renewables Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) industry knowledge
  • Experience of managing across countries and cultures.
  • Proven success, knowledge and experience of selling, account management, pipeline management, negotiation skills, sales planning, building relationships, managing sales processes.
  • Ability to develop strong executive relationships (internally/externally), develop new markets, deliver sales presentations and deal with conflict and challenge.
  • Strong business acumen.
  • Demonstrate strong business development, leadership, teambuilding and coaching skills.
  • Demonstrate ability to motivate teams and develop employee skills.
  • Analytical and decision making skills.
  • Highly motivated and results driven.
  • Degree in engineering, related field or equivalent experience
  • Fluent in English
