Job Overview

Founded in 1991, Silicon Microstructures, Inc. (SMI) is a world leader in the design and manufacture of Micro Electro-Mechanical Systems (“MEMS”) that lie at the heart of the advanced sensing market, enabling devices in the medical, industrial, digital consumer, security, and automotive sectors.

 

The company has established itself as a premier provider of MEMS-based pressure sensors for a range of markets, supplying advanced high and low-pressure sensor products that meet the stringent requirements for industry and consumer safety. Silicon Microstructures’ design, production and quality control processes have enabled it to develop both the smallest and smartest pressure sensors available today. SMI offers a wide range of pressure sensors, including uncompensated sensors, temperature compensated and calibrated products as well as sensor systems consisting of an ASIC paired with a sensor die in a custom package.

 

In 2019 SMI was acquired by TE Connectivity and is now part of the TE Sensor Solutions (TESS) business units.

What your background should look like:

Lean/ Six Sigma Black Belt

  • Research and develop a list of potential projects within the site.
  • Put together teams necessary to support each improvement project, training teams as needed, ensuring established timelines and savings goals are met.
  • Complete all documentation associated with any changes and ensure that all vested departments are informed, trained and participated at a level appropriate for each project.
  • Analyze production data to monitor for trends and shifts that can lead to new improvement projects.

 

Internal Quality

  • Provide product team support for quality system design and audit, compliance assessment, and the support of steady state manufacturing processes for IntraSense and NPI projects.
  • Work closely with other departments on assigning and monitoring effectiveness of Supplier and Internal Corrective Actions in a timely manner. 
  • Drives corrective actions internally and from suppliers as necessary.
  • Develops methods, processes, procedures and recommends equipment that will reduce failures.
  • Perform Internal audits to ISO 9001, IATF 16949, ISO 14001 standards to maintain our certifications.

 

Qualifications:

  • Required: Working knowledge of MEMS, ICs, and the respective manufacturing process. 
  • Required: A minimum of 3 years of Lean/Six Sigma Black Belt certification and experience.   
  • Required: Master’s degree in Engineering (preferably EE or ME).
  • Required: strong communication skills with a technical aptitude to be able to present results and issues though all levels of the opganization.
  • Required: Proficient with Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Required: Ability to pass ISO 9001, IATF 16949 and ISO 14001 certified Internal Auditor courses

 

COMPENSATION:

  • Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $112,000- $168,000 year (subject to change dependent on physical location)
  • Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. TE Connectivity reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
  • Total Compensation = Base Salary + Incentive(s) + Benefits
