Supplier Development Engineer

Job Overview

As Supplier Development Engineer, you will;

  • Supplier preparation to support New Program Introduction (NPI), Advanced Development with TE Engineering and Supplier migration activity to strategic suppliers.
  • Find and develop suppliers to support the Global Commodity Manager and ISG SC and Procurement by driving incremental performance improvement in supplier quality, delivery, price and service
  • Teach new suppliers on how to work with TE (portal access, e-procurement tool usage, TE procedures, etc.)
  • Extend TE Operational Advantage (Lean Manufacturing) into the supply base to generate continuous improvement in the extended value stream, deliver incremental improvements through supplier development lead projects and achieve improvement targets specific for supplier development
  • Drive selection and development of new alloys designed for the emerging needs of the business units.
  • Actively work with strategic suppliers to build a sustainable pipeline of Supplier initiated cost savings projects to support the productivity goals of the commodity

What your background should look like:
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited university in Mechanical Engineering/Metallurgist preferred, Operations, Supply Chain, Business or other related disciplines
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the wire commodity and the processes of wire manufacturing (preferred)
  • Several years’ experience in Quality and robust quality system knowledge
  • Technical background or experience working with high/complex technical products/components
  • Commercial experience (contract management, negotiation skills, supply chain processes, etc.)
  • Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis (PFMEA), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), 8D, 5 why, Fishbone, Practical Problem Solving, and experience with Minitab will be highly appreciated
  • SAP background is a plus
  • Willingness to travel (approx. 25%)
