The Aerospace, Defense and Marine (Aerospace, Defense and Marine or AD&M) business unit of TE is part of the Industrial Solutions segment (Industrial Solutions) and is a world leader in the design of components and electrical interconnection solutions that are used for applications in extreme and rigorous environments. These interconnection solutions make possible applications of avionics, jet and propulsion engine management, flight controls, grounding systems and on-board entertainment (EAB) for today's "connected aircraft". Job Overview

The AD&M Strategy and Business Development team helps shape the portfolio and competitive strategy, by being an advisor to the GM and the leadership team. The AD&M Strategy & Business Development Manager is a key member of the team and their key responsibilities include: 

 

  • Support the design and deployment of growth strategies and internal processes to drive consistent execution of growth and margin expansion initiatives
  • Identify opportunities to improve business performance, including cost optimization and product portfolio modification
  • Create cost models for businesses and product lines to assess profitability
  • Conduct research and analysis for potential acquisitions, equity investments, joint-ventures, alliances, licensing relationships or divestiture opportunities
  • Facilitate development of annual strategic plans for the business

Responsibilities & Qualifications

  • Identify, track, and communicate key trends across segments, technologies and competitors that affect AD&M businesses in the short, medium and long-term
  • Identify and analyze growth opportunities:
    • Assess size, growth, and profitability of key markets
    • Rate opportunities on multiple dimensions (e.g., size, profitability, headroom for growth, fit with current business)
    • Identify organic and inorganic growth opportunities
    • Contribute to due diligence of potential partners (e.g., conduct revenue/cost synergy analysis)
  • Manage strategy projects and lead cross-functional teams, including creating timelines and tracking progress
  • Help the leadership team prepare for key events (e.g., strategy week, quarterly growth reviews)
  • Manage external vendors providing research assistance
  • Bring best practices from outside into TE

 

Ideal candidate profile

Success in the role requires strong business acumen and strategic mindset, exceptional communication and presentation skills, ability to work seamlessly with leaders at multiple levels, and the skills and tenacity to achieve results without formal authority. In addition, successful candidates will have the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Science or Engineering from a leading institution is required. MBA from a top graduate program highly preferred
  • 4+ years of total work experience with at least 2 years in strategy consulting, investment banking, or strategy / business development role with a Fortune 500 technology or diversified industrial company
  • Experience working in strategic projects and delivering results in cross-functional teams with limited guidance
  • Strong analytical, problem solving skills and drive for results
  • Solid understanding of and the ability to identify value creation levers
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; experience in making presentations and communicating ideas and plans to senior executives  
  • Willingness to travel (up to 25%)  
  • Must have fluency in English. Foreign language skills a plus
