Strategic Sourcing Analyst II

Job Overview

TE Connectivity's Strategic Sourcing Teams develop and implement multi-year strategies for assigned commodities, suppliers and parts/services to achieve established goals in supplier quality, delivery, price and service. They align strategy and execution with cross-functional partners such as engineering, manufacturing, product management and functional owners. They execute the competitive bid, negotiation, contracting processes and/or technical continuous improvement for assigned commodities or services; collaborate across Business Units and cross-regions for optimal TE leverage. Our teams demonstrate a high level of expertise in procurement competencies (business/supply chain acumen, negotiation, sourcing strategy development and execution, global savvy, and project and product lifecycle management) and ensure results are delivered compliant with TE policies and procedures.

Job Summary: (1) Works side by side with Regional Commodity Manager Corporate Services Americas to deliver individual targets as well as supporting total overall Corp. Services FY targets. (2) Works in very close collaboration with Regional Commodity Manager HR Americas supporting total overall HR FY targets. Develops and executes multi-year sourcing strategy for assigned commodities/suppliers by gathering business requirements, identifies/pre-qualifies potential suppliers by evaluating product offerings, recommends suppliers that achieve established goals in supplier quality, delivery, price, and service to meet TE’s requirements. Is capable to work as part of an international and multi-cultural team, providing extensive analytical support, understanding inherent complexity, and aligning with other relevant team-members across the globe.


The candidate being sought will be considered to become a corporate expert for the assigned commodities and must be capable to support the implementation of the global and regional supply base strategies to realize established goals and objectives. It is expected that this position will have responsibility to exhibit a good level of expertise in contract management (including authoring & negotiation towards final execution & repository). 

Qualifications and skills

Responsibility/Job Complexity: Develops solutions to a variety of problems of moderate scope and complexity.
• Identifies and corrects issues that are not immediately evident in existing systems or processes by analyzing information and generating ideas.
• Delivers results according to specific targets in direct support of department objectives.

Direction Received: Works under general supervision of Regional Commodity Managers and Regional and Global Procurement Directors (N+2).
• Normally receives general instruction on routine work and detailed instructions on new projects or assignments.
• Collaborates with colleagues and may train or mentor other employees; builds productive internal/external working relationships.

Key Challenges:

Support Regional Commodity Managers in developing and implementing specific Commodity Strategies
Gather and understand business requirements
Conduct multiple bidding and vendor selections in parallel
Negotiate assigned contracts with suppliers up to execution and implementation
Support Corporate cost savings goals
Training of various needs with customers may be required on occasion (ECat use/Preferred supplier list/Commodity Code)
Support Cross functional teams i.e. Marketing, HR, Finance, Plant Operations, etc.
Enthusiasm & problem solving are a must!


Required Job Family Skills: Ability to draft standard and custom RFQ/RFI and use E-procurement technology and ability to analyze suppliers' response. Good overall procurement knowledge, i.e. master service agreement, statement of works along with special buying techniques such as Total Cost of Ownership, discounts and rebates are required. Perform annual supplier evaluations, monitoring supplier quality, delivery, and conformance to requirements and developing corrective action plans as needed based on evaluation result for assigned commodities/suppliers. Actively supporting implementation of global/regional strategies within scope utilizing all resources available and prioritizing tasks in order of meeting customer expectations and activity resulting in a successful outcome. 
Responsible for meeting savings targets for assigned areas and supporting total Regional targets Professional Services targets and joint member of Indirect Procurement team. Good level of understanding of effects of technology innovations, taxations, economics and regional issues on a specific commodity or product. Lead project teams may be cross-functional, within assigned commodities/suppliers and have knowledge and understanding of timely execution of escalations internally and externally. Very good problem-solving capacities. E-Catalog management is a plus. 
Exercises discretion and independent judgment within defined policies and procedures and applies skills and knowledge of theories and principles to understand specific needs or requirements and determine appropriate course of action.

Education/Work Experience:
BA/BS, + 5 years minimum work experience OR
MA/MS, + 1-year minimum work experience

Vendor Contract Management: write, red line, negotiate contracts (INT/EXT)

Indirect commodity experience in Procurement or Supply Chain. Good knowledge of Human Resources or Corporate Service commodities preferred. 

Proven ability to work as a project leader with experience managing important dollar projects/programs.

Computer Knowledge/Proficiency:
Required: MS Excel, MS Word, MS Outlook, MS PowerPoint, SAP 
Preferred: Cognos and Power BI.

COMPENSATION
•    Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $65,500 - $81,000 (subject to change dependent on physical location)
•    Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. TE Connectivity reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
•    Total Compensation = Base Salary + Incentive(s) + Benefits
