Position Overview:

This person will support Appliance development and sustaining packaging responsibilities for US Operations.  They will be in Harrisburg, PA and will report directly to the Sustaining Manufacturing Engineering Manager.  There will be substantial interaction with core project teams, manufacturing locations, TE suppliers, and global counterparts.   


Responsibilities & Qualifications

- Responsible for Design and Development of local, regional or global Packaging Processes for Appliances BU worldwide manufacturing operations.
- Create new packaging designs to support new product introductions.  This includes identifying supplier, acquiring quote based on design specifics, perform packaging testing, create packaging material drawing and add to SAP packaging database.
- Capable of determining packaging quantities associated with unit carton, ship carton and over pack containers.
- Coordinate customer specific label requirements into manufacturing and distribution.  
- Perform packaging testing to support new designs and to address non conformances with existing designs.   Requires both self - conducted testing and submit testing to TE packaging test lab located in Harrisburg, PA.  Test process includes shock and vibration and Heat / Humidity testing to specific parameters.   
- Work with Manufacturing, Quality, Product and Industrial Engineering to assist with packaging related changes, substitutions and cost savings opportunities.
- Familiar with ISTA-1A, 2A testing related to packaging design and required performance levels.


- Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering desired, but not required
- High passion in package development and problem solving.
- Good English skills with fluent conversational communication ability.  

- Willingness to travel (10% travel)

- Strong time management skills and the ability to work well to deadlines.

- Basic project management skills.
- Familiar with Auto-Cad.
