Job Overview

As part of TE’s core Cloud COE (Center of Excellence), the Sr. Cloud Solution Architect (SA) will work at a high level with an understanding TE’s current cloud architecture, strategy, and framework, and have a lead role with the design, build, and optimize of TE’s hybrid cloud (multi-cloud and “on-premise”) architecture and solutions.  Acting as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) the SA will provide fault tolerant design, migration, deployment, and “best practice” project consulting services for TE’s application teams, as well as guidance to the cloud operational team, and any junior team members. Working collaboratively with the cloud, security, and infrastructure architecture senior/leadership team, the SA will also help with maintaining, refreshing, updating TE’s cloud standards and framework.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide overall design / best practice guidance for using AWS and Azure services (IaaS / PaaS)
  • Participate in the planning and execution of tasks related to the evaluation of new cloud services / functionality (hands on)
  • Provide tier 3 technical support for any issues related to AWS and Azure services (including engaging vendor support and troubleshooting integration / connectivity issues with our on-premise environment)
  • Propose appropriate changes to standards, policies, and procedures based on emerging technology changes or capability enhancements
  • Work with our operational support team as well as junior team members to produce well written, technical detailed documentation for TE’s cloud standards, guidelines, and support procedures
  • Provide project consulting services for new application requirements and the migration of existing applications to AWS or Azure
  • Driving automation and DevOps within the cloud platform
  • As the Senior SA, provide mentoring for any junior members of the core cloud COE team
  • Collaborate with security, infrastructure, and risk & compliance teams (architecture and operational level) as needed to drive successful cloud service pilots or implementations
  • Work with the Sr. Manager for Cloud Architecture to drive improvements with platform stability, automation and cost efficiency
  • Assist with promoting appropriate cloud usage, awareness, and adoption within TE
  • Stay abreast of current cloud service offerings, capabilities, and features (especially with TE’s standard cloud platforms AWS/Azure) by way of training and advocacy communication with our technical account teams

Competencies:

  • Strong understanding of AWS and Azure cloud services (storage, compute, load balancing, networking, database services, IoT, machine learning)
  • Broad understanding of infrastructure solutions (DNS, network LAN/WAN, active directory, database technologies, virtualization/hypervisor concepts, Windows/Linux operating systems)
  • Solution architecture / Project consulting for aligning requirements with cloud services
  • Ability to execute and work "hands on" with cloud services (through the console and CLI)
  • Ability to coordinate and provide project leadership among multiple technical teams
  • High level of competency with AWS cloud formations and Azure CLI
  • Automation/DevOps practitioner
  • Strong interpersonal and team building skills
  • Strong written, presentation, and verbal communication skills with socializing cloud concepts
  • Self-driven and able to work in an agile team within a large enterprise organization

Experience & Qualifications 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Information Systems
  • AWS Certificating Solution Architect Associate (Professional a plus)
  • Azure Solution Architecture certification (AZ-300)
  • Experience migrating n-premise workloads to AWS and Azure using the vendors' standard tool sets
  • Experience implementing cloud security native services: Azure Policy, Azure Management Groups, AWS Config, and AWS Org Policies
  • 8+ years' experience in a technical role related to the Computer Science and technology field, with at least 3+ of them related to cloud technology services.
