Job Overview

The Global Commodity Director of TEIS, reporting to the Global Director of Indirect Procurement will work with leadership to set a clear and ambitious vision and strategy. While thinking holistically about how this vision and strategy will impact and enhance the greater company’s operations. The ideal candidate will focus on establishing standards, processes and pricing for existing and future customer engagements. The TEIS GCD role encompasses IT Software, Hardware and Services commodities.


This Global position will manage approximately $300 MM USD in annual spend. 


Finally, the position will be to support the development and execution of the commodity strategy and support the creation of a best in class Global Procurement team, with exemplary results. The qualified individual will drive the commodity to meet the year over year key performance indicators focusing on transparency, visibility, productivity, delivery, and quality, while driving leading indicators. 



  • Work with TE’s leadership to define TEIS GCD offerings, develop, implement and manage future strategy and the forward direction for TEIS commodities.
  • Establish a strategic roadmap for the growth of TEIS including productivity, contracting, pricing, consolidation, resourcing, staff coordination, governance and oversight.
  • Create strategic plans along with business leaders and maintain strong relationships with the segment, business units and supporting teams, to ensure support of the cross-functional businesses.
  • Work with leadership to develop and implement metrics to track success, across key procurement indicators (KPIs), ensuring phases across the procurement circle are successful. These metrics will be designed to drive favorable ECE (Extraordinary Customer Experience) and improved productivity results
  • Manage, coach, and mentor team of client facing commodity managers to ensure excellent customer service and successful support
  • Be responsible for the overall leadership in managing the implementation of large global projects; maintain complete control on project schedule, and risk issues; set and manages client expectations; create and execute project work plans and revisions as appropriate to meet the changing needs and requirements; communicate effectively with clients and continually seek opportunities to increase overall customer satisfaction and deepen the client relationships; 
  • BS or MS degree in Business, IT Procurement, Finance or equivalent experience is preferred. At least 10 years of experience demonstrating management and leadership experience. Strong operational management, project management, consulting, technology and process improvement skills. Strong operational, project management, consulting technology and process skills; strong communication/presentation and negotiation skills.
  • Proven success in building teams from scratch with a focus on optimizing performance, engagement and productivity; Proven and consistent track record of delivering customer engagements.
  • Relationship building and ongoing relationship management with key stakeholders, suppliers and team members is a must.
  • Ability to speak persuasively in front of a large audience which may include management to the executive level.
  • Self-motivated individual with a positive attitude, able to work well with international teams and individuals.
  • Time zone flexibility and the ability to travel 25 to 50%.
  • Strong analytical skills. Ability to analyze complex financial documentation and RFP submissions and make detailed reports and recommendations to senior management.  Experience with third party procurement and analysis tools is a plus.
