Sr Manager, Manufacturing & Process Development Engineering

Job Overview

The Industrial Solutions Segment which consists out of Aerospace, Defence & Marine, Energy, Industrial and Medical, is seeking a dynamic, innovative and goal oriented individual. The candidate should be proactive in problem solving and possesses technical leadership and communication skills that will lead and transition new technologies from the laboratory to the business units. Main target is to develop future manufacturing processes for the mid to low volume environment of the Business Units within TE’s Industrial Solutions Segment.   



•    Responsible thought leader and influencer for all ME/MDE related activities.
•    Understand segment footprint, manufacturing capability, and talent levels within the Manufacturing Engineering Function and leverage efficient use of resources across businesses (i.e. share capacity, resources, knowledge, technology, etc.)
•    Drive key levers toward operational excellence and Gross Margin Expansion (Continuous Improvement; Conversion & Material productivity, quality, delivery, safety)
•    Drive BU level automation strategies and leverage center led resources for BU benefit (AMT, MPI, etc.) 
•    Support/aid business case development for Manufacturing Process technology
•    Act as an influencer and breakdown BU silos.  Promote collaboration across BU’s and Segments. Leverage enterprise solutions.
•    Represent Segment Interests on Centers of Excellence and Councils
•    Coordinate and drive execution of BU Digital Factory strategies
•    Leverage center led resources and enterprise solutions for Digital Factory tool deployment
•    Drive for Value Creation from Digital Factory tool Deployment
•    Align with segment counterparts to ensure Industrial Solutions strategies align with corporate level strategies.
•    Develop Manufacturing technology roadmaps to support product development needs.
•    Prioritize center led corporate initiatives for maximum segment benefit.
•    Interact with executive leadership teams and gain their confidence and approval for strategic or impactful MFG Technology projects.
•    Act as a segment sponsor for the operations rotational program
•    Act as a design team member and teach portions of TE’s Manufacturing Engineering and Operations Leadership Development Programs.

What your background should look like:
  • Ph.D., preferably in Mechanical Engineering with relevant work experience (approx.. 5 or more years) or a M.S. degree with substantial work experience (approx. 10 or more years)
  • Ability to communicate effectively throughout all levels within the organization. Excellent multitasking and organizational skills
  • Ability to execute on priorities and effectively meet milestones
  • Strong analytical thinker with excellent problem solving skills
  • Knowledge and hands on experience in a variety of manufacturing processes such as stamping, molding, plating, manual and automated assembly, extrusion, wire&cable, precision machining, compounding, additive manufacturing
  • Knowledge of electrical and optical inline testing equipment
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and guidance
  • Demonstrate ability to work within a team environment
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification preferred
  • Proficient in MS Office Software
  • Preferred 3D CAD experience (Pro/E preferred)
  • Preferred statistical software experience with Minitab
  • Willingness to travel internationally and to stay abroad for short periods of time
