Job Overview

The Ruggedized Fiber Optics (RFO) team within Aerospace, Defense and Marine (AD&M) business unit of Tyco Electronics serves a broad range of customers in the commercial aerospace, military / defense and marine (including off-shore, energy exploration) markets. Our customers count on us to deliver engineering solutions and quality products to support a myriad of applications within our industries.
 


This candidate will plan & schedule work for a team of technicians and production personnel at our plant in Middletown, PA.   This individual will also assist with planning, procuring, and following material flow for required components that support our growth, which have not yet been established in the SAP system.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Oversee a technical production staff, including performance management for team of 6 technicians.
  • Perform mid-year & end of year goal setting and reviews for team members.
  • Plan & schedule NPD & customer NPI builds in pre-production area based on guidance from Manufacturing Development Manager & Project Managers.
  • Run weekly load meetings to provide status updates to Demand Managers, Key Account Managers, Project Managers, & Manufacturing Development Manager.
  • EHS activities and coordination for the production labs.
  • Plan purchased materials for NPI build that have not yet been established in SAP.   May include obtaining vendor quotes for long lead items listed on preliminary BOMs.
  • Assist with follow-up and drive suppliers to meet delivery commitments.
  • Proactively anticipate and communicate potential material shortages.
  • Assist with & establish strategic stocking plans to reduce lead-time of key components.
  • Drive resolution to the inevitable IT system blocks that occur during the first-time product builds.
  • Assist development team in preparing products for transfer to high volume production sites.  

 

 

What your background should look like:

Qualifications

  • 3 years’ experience in guiding a production team.
  • Fiber optics manufacturing experience is preferred.
  • Experience in SAP or other ERP systems.
  • Experience with MS Office suite applications, primarily Excel & Word.
  • Superior communication skills.
  • Ability to adjust to a rapidly changing set of priorities.
  • Attention to details.
  • Excellent organizational & planning skills.
  • Self-motivated individual with a high sense of urgency.
  • Proven ability to meet customer commitment dates.
  • Ability to work within a team.
