Key Projects

 

As a Plastics/Polymer Engineering Intern, you’ll have the opportunity to: 

 

  • Learn about the plastic injection molding process, materials used to make plastic connectors, gain an understanding of the Engineering Benchmarking procedure and sampling requirements for new molds. 

  • Do in depth research on issues associated with molds and mold tooling’s, different types of mold plating’s and designs for tooling issues that arise. 

  • Work with veteran toolmakers on issues with mold tooling, process engineers on process issues, scheduling and the manufacturing floor. 

  • Work with the new business quote team and assist mold engineering w/completing assignments.  

  • Learn how certain product design features affect manufacturing cost and assist M.E. with mold quotes 

  • Manipulate geometry on models to improve manufacturability and reduce cost to produce and maintain.  

  • Carry out daily tasks such as: Conducting Mold Design Reviews, reviewing Mold Designs and tooling prints for compliance, reviewing data and creating reports to share with mold suppliers, reviewing and interpreting MoldFlow analysis, mold samplings at plant or supplier 

  • Own a long-term project during the summer based on the business need at the time. The intern will leverage key contacts within the team to accomplish the project and manage the deliverables as the responsible project engineer.   

What your background should look like:

 

  • Minimum GPA requirement of 3.0 

  • Must be currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree Program 

  • Majoring in Plastics, Chemical, Material Science, or another related engineering major 

  • Must be graduating in or after August 2020

Internship Program Overview

 

Our internship program gives students the opportunity to work on valuable projects that contribute to the success of their team and build on their classroom experience. Throughout the 10-12 week program, interns will be provided with:

Our internship program is nationally based. If you are selected to interview, we will discuss location options. TE Offers a Housing stipend to assist with housing costs if you require relocation for the summer. We typically have positions in the following locations:
