At TE, you will unleash your potential working with people from diverse backgrounds and industries to create a safer, sustainable and more connected world.
Job Overview
Are you a self-directed, motivated professional who wants to build a career in project management while applying a strong supply chain and technical coordination mindset? At TE Connectivity, you will work with technical experts, suppliers, procurement teams, and cross-functional stakeholders to support innovative projects in the data center and connectivity markets.
The Project Manager Engineer I will coordinate supplier-dependent technical projects, with particular focus on prototype builds, purchasing activities, schedule management, and execution follow-up. This role is responsible for helping teams translate technical requirements into clear sourcing and execution plans; preparing and tracking purchase requisitions and purchase orders; monitoring supplier commitments, prototype build status, risks, costs, and due dates; and providing timely project reporting to stakeholders.
The successful candidate is organized, proactive, comfortable working across technical and commercial functions, and willing to take ownership of follow-up activities. The individual will partner closely with engineering and other technical experts to remove execution gaps, escalate issues when appropriate, and help projects achieve scope, schedule, cost, and quality objectives
Job Requirements
• Coordinate technical projects involving suppliers, prototype materials, components, tooling, and related services for data center and connectivity applications.
• Plan, report, manage, and track prototype builds from requirements definition through supplier delivery and internal evaluation.
• Partner with engineering and technical experts to understand specifications, prototype needs, priorities, dependencies, and acceptance criteria.
• Coordinate supplier activities, obtain status updates, confirm commitments, and drive closure of actions affecting prototype delivery, cost, quality, or technical readiness.
• Create, submit, and track purchase requisitions and purchase orders in SAP, following applicable procurement and approval processes.
• Monitor purchasing status, supplier acknowledgements, lead times, promised delivery dates, and open commercial or technical issues.
• Develop and maintain project schedules, milestones, action-item logs, risk registers, and status reports.
• Identify schedule gaps, supply risks, resource constraints, and changes that may affect project objectives; escalate issues with clear facts and proposed recovery actions.
• Facilitate cross-functional reviews with engineering, procurement, supply chain, operations, quality, finance, and suppliers as needed.
• Communicate roles, expectations, priorities, decisions, and due dates clearly to project stakeholders.
• Support project budget tracking, quotation follow-up, prototype cost visibility, and alignment between approved scope and supplier spending.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of project management, prototype procurement, supplier coordination, and reporting practices.
TE's prototype development strategy combines rapid internal prototyping capabilities with specialized external suppliers for casting, tooling, molding, PCB fabrication, and complex assemblies. Internal facilities primarily focus on assembly, soldering, welding, testing, and cable termination, while external partners provide specialized manufacturing processes necessary to accelerate development and validate designs prior to production tooling investment.
Most immediately, you will:
• Join a technical project team supporting data center and connectivity product development activities.
• Build a clear tracker for prototype requirements, supplier ownership, purchasing status, build milestones, delivery dates, risks, and open actions.
• Coordinate purchase requisitions, purchase order submission, supplier follow-up, and receipt of prototype materials or services.
• Work with technical experts to ensure suppliers receive complete and timely requirements and that technical questions are resolved.
• Provide concise, fact-based project updates and escalate risks that threaten prototype timing, cost, quality, or project objectives.
What your background should look like
• Bachelor's degree in engineering, supply chain operations with +2 years of experience with project related activities.
• Experience with prototype development using MIM, 3D printing, Lasser cutting Chemical etching, PCBA Fabrication and testing.
• Working knowledge of supply chain and procurement processes, including supplier follow-up, purchase requisitions, purchase orders, lead times, and delivery tracking.
• Experience using SAP for purchasing or project-related transactions, including purchase requisition and purchase-order activities.
• Demonstrated ability to organize priorities, maintain accurate trackers, manage multiple due dates, and follow actions through closure.
• Ability to partner effectively with engineers and technical subject matter experts without needing to be the technical decision owner.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills, including clear status reporting and escalation of risks or blockers.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to schedule, cost, quality, scope, and supplier performance.
• Self-directed, motivated, accountable, and interested in building a long-term career in project management.
• Ability to work effectively with regional and global cross-functional teams and suppliers.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in data center, connectivity, connector, cable assembly, electronics, networking hardware, or related product-development environments.
• Experience coordinating prototype builds, engineering samples, development materials, tooling, or supplier-produced technical deliverables.
• Knowledge of project scheduling tools such as Microsoft Project and proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Planisware and Teams.
• Familiarity with stage-gate, phase-gate, New Product Development, LEAN, or similar project execution processes.
