Job Overview

The Mold Engineer will be part of a Sustaining Manufacturing Engineering Team for the Appliances Business Unit. The team are considered process leaders for stamping, molding or assembly related topics, ensuring the processes are running at optimum levels for quality and output. Our expertise is in mold and die tooling, machining, and assembly techniques, possessing extensive knowledge of the associated manufacturing processes which may include the optimization and standardization of stamping / molding / assembly or other processes within the manufacturing environment. The Mold Engineer will design and develop mold tooling and processes to optimize existing products already in production. The Mold Engineer enables the manufacturing plants and suppliers to implement Centers of Excellence ideas and Best Demonstrated Practices (BDP’s) on mold tool capacity builds, process improvements, and redesign projects. 

- Conduct print reviews of legacy product and provide recommendations to improve the molding process
- Assess and provide risk analysis and risk mitigation for molds and mold processes
- Implement best demonstrated molding practices into new and rebuilt molds
- Participate in design reviews, optimize mold designs, and have a working knowledge of AutoCAD, Mold Flow and/or MoldEx software packages
- Identify and recommend molding press requirements
- Experience in collaborating with global cultures in a project manager led / team environment
- Generate Tooling Approval Requirements for a mold and mold process which includes defining capability study requirements
- Work with TE Connectivity manufacturing plants and global suppliers to design, build, and condition new molds and improve the performance of existing molds
- Evaluate the overall dimensions of a molded product and make recommendations for improvements before releasing the mold and mold process into production
- Update tool and process documentation to ensure accurate information is available for future projects
