Job Overview

TE Connectivity’s internship program is designed to provide interns with real world experience to enhance classroom knowledge. Uniquely crafted assignments and meaningful projects provide interns with a challenging 10 – 12 week experience. Interns will gain exposure to senior leadership and be given professional development opportunities. At the end of the summer, interns will be provided the opportunity to pursue full-time placement within TE Connectivity.  


The Intelligent Buildings division of TE Connectivity is seeking a qualified engineering intern who is in process of a Mechanical Engineering bachelor’s degree. The job will involve working with the team’s engineers to concept, prototype, and test potential new product designs for use in lighting, solar, or building automation applications.  Following the development process will provide opportunities to interact with manufacturing, product management, test laboratory and sustaining engineering teams to successfully bring new products to TE Connectivity’s customers.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Duties may include:

  • Develop new product design concepts and present to internal teams and external customers.
  • Perform analysis of designs utilizing finite element analysis such as Ansys or Pro/Mechanica.
  • Coordinate the creation of prototypes utilizing rapid prototyping technologies such as 3D printing, Stereolithography, and other techniques.
  • Create design of experiments plans to test products in various stress states.
  • Prepare for and participate in design reviews, failure mode and effects analysis reviews and quality planning of new product designs.
  • Support sustaining engineering team for product improvements and cost reductions on existing products.
  • Perform tolerance analysis and dimensional check of designs.
  • Participate in simultaneous engineering team meetings and activities.


Candidate Qualifications:

  • Candidates for consideration should be pursuing a B.S. or B.T. in Mechanical Engineering and be in good standing with the University.  Would prefer a student who has just completed their Junior year, but other students with equivalent experience will be considered.
  • Working knowledge of 3D CAD packages such as Creo or SpaceClaim is desirable, but not required.
  • Possess a basic understanding of manufacturing technologies such as stamping, plating, molding, machining, and assembly.
  • Good application skills of Microsoft Office tools, such as Excel, Word, Outlook etc.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills are essential.
  • The position is located in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.   Minor travel may be required.
