Job Overview

TE Connectivity’s internship program is designed to provide interns with real world experience to enhance classroom knowledge. Uniquely crafted assignments and meaningful projects provide interns with a challenging 10 – 12 week experience. Interns will gain exposure to senior leadership and be given professional development opportunities. At the end of the summer, interns will be provided the opportunity to pursue full-time placement within TE Connectivity.  

The Automation Manufacturing Technology (AMT) Group is a corporate organization responsible for innovating new automation technologies and supporting the TE Connectivity (TE) business units with automation solutions.  Machine technologies include electro-mechanical multi-axis control, image processing, robotics, machine learning and industrial instrumentation & automation control.  The Manufacturing Development Robotics Intern position will report to the Senior Manager with daily direction from Principal and Innovation Engineers in critical development projects.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

The primary responsibility will be to provide manufacturing development and robotics engineering support for key automation innovation development projects.  The Intern will need to be “hands on” to understand machine components, robotic and system programming and layout electro-mechanical models and robotic systems.  The intern must also be able to organize, evaluate, analyze and report findings in a concise complete manner.

 

The individual will learn the fundamentals of automated assembly equipment through concept models, equipment being built and integrated in the machine build shop and hands on experience.  The intern will also be exposed to intellectual property (IP) development the TE automation teams, manufacturing operations and manufacturing development teams.

 

Educational requirements include being a graduate student (MS or PhD) in an accredited graduate degree program for Robotic, Mechatronics or Electrical Engineering.  Required competencies include strong electro-mechanical aptitude, high robotic and system programming proficiency, creative thinking, analytical skills and the ability to communicate technical ideas.
