Job Overview

TE Connectivity’s Engineering Managers provide leadership for cross functional engineering teams. They work with senior management to define technical road maps aligned with market directions and communicate across other Business Units to share applicable technology. Our Engineering Managers leverage TE global technology to increase competitive position and increased value to our customers. They identify relevant technology trends and opportunities, develop relationships and partnerships with key customers, industry leaders and core suppliers, define and manage IP strategy, assess talent and implement development plans to assure succession planning and organization capability.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Group Discussion: The Product Compliance department provides the Industrial Unit expert guidance and support with the following:  Product environmental coding of our products to International product content legislation such as RoHS and REACH.  Additionally, the department supports Trade compliance to US Commerce law and in alignment with TE’s Trade department guidance.  The department further coordinates and aligns resources inside TE’s offs-shore compliance support function to act on our behalf with conformance to the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform Act - specifically for conflict minerals reporting obligations to our customers who require evidence of supply chain compliance to this law.

Position Overview: The Ideal candidate shall exhibit an extra ordinary curiosity and passion to understand and become expert in environmental content legislation, conflict minerals and trade compliance, while working to become the recognized subject matter expert to the Industrial Engineering community and its senior leadership, global sales team, product management and quality departments, etc. The candidate shall exhibit the ability to work both independently as needed and collaboratively within the context of the product line portfolio teams and related leadership assuring optimal product compliance and trade law solutions are implemented for our customers.



  • To manage and maintain compliance with US Trade Laws (harmonized schedule classifications, valuations, and country of origin rules), including record keeping, and with ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulation) as needed to assure ongoing conformance to applicable regulations and to TE’s Trade Services Department reporting requirements at the part level- in support of the INDUSTRIAL unit.  The Trade Compliance role shall have the authority to stop shipments thus assuring continued compliance and to resolve open issues per the governing regulations for all purchase orders and shipments.  The candidate shall influence and motivate local personnel to the use of proper trade compliance policy and procedure as defined by the TE Trade department.
  • The candidate shall be thoroughly knowledgeable regarding product environmental compliance content as it relates to the electronics industry served by TE Connectivity.  E.g. RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substance - EU 2011/65/EC & REACH (Registration Evaluation Authorization of Chemicals - EC 1907/2006) and other major legislation such as CA Prop 65, EU- WEEE and Battery directives, etc. This knowledge shall be used to identify product and customer compliance risks across the unit’s portfolio and to then define and implement risk mitigation strategies.
  • To take a lead role as the unit’s customer facing conflict minerals engineer and to collaborate with TE India compliance services thus assuring customer requests are addressed quickly and accurately - while participating in TE’s conflict mineral subcommittee to remain aligned with corporate reporting objectives.
  • Leadership skills and ability to take on additional work load/ responsibilities, thereby transitioning to a senior BU support role in the next 3 years, in support of the current Sr. Compliance Managers Position.

Required Skill Sets

  • A four-year Engineering or related technical degree is preferred.
  • Experience in US Trade law compliance and or product environmental compliance management is preferred.
  • Demonstrated industry track record/ subject matter expert knowledge base, (combination of skill sets) with Chemical management (as it relates to product content), US trade compliance regulations and or conflict minerals
  • Strong interpersonal communications skills with proven problem solving capacity and the ability to multi-task across various PLP portfolios along relevant topics is key.
  • The ability to work in an international environment (across global departments and design teams, in committees, and with global customers, etc.) is essential to the success of the role.
  • Proficiency in the use of MS office computing tools, or equivalent, is also important.
  • A master’s degree in engineering/ materials science/ environmental discipline or similar STEM background is welcomed.
