The Aerospace, Defense and Marine (AD&M) business unit of TE is part of the Industrial Solutions segment -- a world leader in the design of components and electrical interconnection solutions that are used for applications in extreme and harsh environments. Job Overview
TE Connectivity’s Engineering Managers provide leadership for cross functional engineering teams. They work with senior management to define technical road maps aligned with market directions and communicate across other Business Units to share applicable technology. Our Engineering Managers leverage TE global technology to increase competitive position and increased value to our customers. They identify relevant technology trends and opportunities, develop relationships and partnerships with key customers, industry leaders and core suppliers, define and manage IP strategy, assess talent and implement development plans to assure succession planning and organization capability.
  • Oversees New Product Introduction design/process engineering resources.
  • Establishes accountabilities and manages resources to comply with Business Processes and the Quality Management System as they apply to design engineering.
  • Creates and leads the application of new procedures that drive development engineering activities.
  • Drives continuous improvement to reduce New Product Introduction (NPI) cycle time & improve on-time & on-budget delivery of product development.
  • Manages engineering resource activities applying tools such as S&OP and QP3 tools.
  • Able to function as a NPI Project Manager with familiarity with MS Project software tools.
  • Assesses organizational needs, develops strategy for enhancing staff skills, and executes technical succession plans.
  • Provides hands-on technical leadership through the product/process development cycle and recommends design approaches as required.
  • Manages IP (invention disclosures, patent applications, trade secrets, customer agreements, innovation recognition) associated with the development of innovative new designs.
  • Oversees interaction of design Engineering team with other disciplines (Marketing, Quality, Operations, Business Development, Corporate Technology, etc.).
  • Communicates technical information and schedules to senior leadership team.
  • Drives development and qualification of the latest breakthroughs in fiber optic connector and cable assembly development and DFA/DFM approaches to bring unique value to customers.
  • Seeks opportunities to maximize performance to generate unique TE value in design, material, and process capabilities.
  • Bachelors Degree in an Engineering discipline or equivalent.
  • Ten or more years of experience in R&D engineering or New Product Development (NPD) engineering.
  • Three or more years of experience with new product engineering design management and people management.
  • Experience with industry standards activities is and support is a plus.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively organize, prioritize and accomplish multiple tasks, make decisions, and solve problems independently.
