M&A and Technical Accountant

This position, which reports to the Director of Consolidations, Technical, and M&A Accounting, is responsible for providing leadership on accounting for acquisition and divestiture activities as well as technical accounting areas such as cash flows, goodwill valuation, and pension accounting. The individual will regularly interact with senior financial management, external consultants and advisors, external auditors, and operating management at domestic and international locations. 


Responsibilities include:

  • Planning and coordination of accounting for acquisition and divestiture projects, including:
  • Summarization of purchase accounting impacts,
  • Valuation of intangible assets and related impacts to earnings,
  • Interaction with Tax, Treasury, valuation specialists, and auditors,
  • Preparation of external M&A-related disclosures, and
  • Preparation of carve-out financial statements and consolidated GAAP reporting for divestitures.
  • Serving as subject matter expert on complex accounting topics, including pension accounting, goodwill valuation, and cash flows reporting.
  • Research, advise, and document technical accounting matters, including coordination with the independent auditor. 
  • Monitoring emerging accounting literature and preparing briefings and summaries for senior management.
  • Assisting in the preparation and presentation of educational materials to worldwide finance audiences on changes in accounting and other matters that may impact TE.  
  • Assisting with the review of the Company’s internal control environment and SOX testing. 
  • Assisting with other ad-hoc projects.
  • Education: B.S. or MBA in accounting, CPA required.
  • The successful candidate will have a minimum of 5 years related or applicable experience including acquisitions/divestitures, technical accounting, and auditing, and will have demonstrated successful project leadership experience.
  • Knowledge of and experience with consolidation (preferably Hyperion HFM) and ERP (preferably SAP) systems is a plus.
