Job Overview

TE Connectivity’s internship program is designed to provide interns with real world experience to enhance classroom knowledge. Uniquely crafted assignments and meaningful projects provide interns with a challenging 10 – 12 week experience. Interns will gain exposure to senior leadership and be given professional development opportunities. At the end of the summer, interns will be provided the opportunity to pursue full-time placement within TE Connectivity.


The Advanced Electronic Solutions team provides the research and new product development capabilities for TE Connectivity’s Industrial business segment. This group focuses on generating next generation product ideas in the embedded electronics and smart connectivity space, proving these concepts through circuit design and prototyping, and transferring these prototypes to the product engineering teams for bringing to market.

The AES group is a highly entrepreneurial, highly concept- driven electronics prototyping environment. Novel ideas are encouraged and brought to fruition within the Advanced Development framework, and significant

latitude and many avenues of exploration into a concept or idea are available. An engineer in AES must be able to conceive, plan, and execute projects across a variety of disciplines.


The summer 2017 electrical engineering intern will contribute directly to the advancement of ongoing development projects in the areas of harsh environment servomotor control, novel material-based sensor development, and next generation rail-borne power monitoring platforms.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Desired Characteristics and Qualifications:

  • Enrollment in Masters or Graduate studies for Electrical Engineering or related field
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA
  • High level of initiative and drive toward creative exploration, creation, and learning
  • Must demonstrate openness in communication, willingness to ask questions, and ability to discuss technically complex material with engineering colleagues, including presentations of development progress and findings
  • Strong ethics, integrity, and reliability are required
  • Competent with surface mount soldering and electronic assembly
  • Familiarity with lab prototyping equipment: Oscilloscope, DMM, power supplies, x-ray inspection, laser cutter, etc.
  • Digital/analog electronics exposure, circuit theory competence
  • Working knowledge of ECAD (especially Altium Designer)
  • Schematic design experience
  • Electronics testing and verification
