Director of Manufacturing Process Development and NPI

Job Overview

As Director of Manufacturing Process Development and New Product Introduction, you will;


  • Lead the global MPDE organization, which is responsible for the design, development, and implementation of the next generation of manufacturing technologies
  • Also lead the Operations Team responsible for working with all functions within the Data and Devices organization to introduce new, cutting edge products to our factories.
  • Act as a key member of the Operations Leadership Team
  • Interface heavily with Engineering, Sales, Product Management and other areas as required.
  • Lead a global technical team that will focus on the development of new manufacturing process including, but not limited to, new equipment, new technologies and processes in alignment with BU and product goals.
  • Develop and implement manufacturing equipment and technologies roadmaps in alignment with BU and product goals
  • Lead the introduction of multiple new products into the DnD factories from R&D ensuring all cost, quality, delivery, capacity, and ramp targets are met.
  • Actively participate in all PAC projects and cycles as the lead voice for Operations
  • Work with the team and other functions to improve the New Product Introduction process to reduce cost and cycle time of this process, as well as the achievement of hitting “landing zone” targets including New Product costs, margin, lead time, delivery, etc.
  • As part of the NPI process drive the teams within Operations and other functions in achieving BU targets including but not limited to CoPQ, inventory, lead time, scrap, etc.
  • Develop next-generation leaders within the organization and the Operations team
  • Be a member, as requested, of TE’s Operations Council and active member of COE’s to ensure the BU maintains a leadership position within the company
  • Drive gross margin expansion in alignment with BU and Operations targets.
  • Drive developing and implementing technical supplier roadmaps for equipment and material in collaboration with Purchasing.
  • Develop and implement new processes and equipment that will drive the BU to a lead position in cost, products, and quality within our industry.
  • Lead multiple complex, time-sensitive projects that include but not limited to new products, manufacturing process development, and new equipment.

What your background should look like:
  • 10+ years of broad manufacturing/operations management experience
  • High level of accountability and ownership including the ability to work across functions and teams, specifically, across cultures and countries.
  • Must be able to facilitate and lead Kaizen events
  • High level of knowledge with manufacturing principles such as assembly, machining, stamping, plating, and molding
  • Experience with NPI and short cycle business
  • Excellent theoretical and practical quality knowledge with proven, hands-on Six Sigma experience
  • Working experience negotiating with equipment suppliers
