Position Overview

The Director, Mergers & Acquisitions will work across a variety of deals, leading global cross-functional teams across TE’s range of businesses. With strong free cash flow and a strong deal reputation, inorganic growth initiatives are a central part of TE’s strategy. Reporting directly to the Senior Vice President, Mergers & Acquisitions, the Director, Mergers & Acquisitions will lead a broad range of M&A transaction evaluation and execution in support of this strategy.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead M&A transaction evaluation and execution including negotiations and support integration hand-off to acquiring/divesting business units.
• Establish and lead cross-functional work stream execution efforts with both local and global business unit executives. Leverage a combination of internal and external resources to architect, operationalize and execute all relevant processes, events, and reports throughout the M&A lifecycle.
• Produce financial and strategic assessments of acquisition and divestiture targets. Perform valuation analysis and generate financial and valuation models. Lead in business plan analysis, financial and business due diligence, and project management.
• Develop, lead and build consensus for proposals and recommendations that will enable the business unit and segment leadership teams to make critical go/no go decisions.
• Monitor M&A environment and internal processes to improve productivity, quality and consistency of TE’s acquisition process and tools with a continuous improvement mindset.

Candidate Profile

• 10+ years of mergers & acquisitions transaction experience at a top-tier corporation, private equity firm, law firm or investment bank.
• BS or BA required. Top tier MBA or JD strongly preferred.
• Significant deal sheet in sourcing, managing and executing complex M&A/business development transactions.
• Track record of successfully leading and program-managing complex, high-stakes corporate development efforts which require cross functional team leadership and the ability to work across organizational boundaries.
• Experience working with diversified industrial companies, either through industry experience or consulting/banking projects a plus.
• Leadership gravitas and communication skills to influence BU and segment executive teams on the investments and actions needed to accomplish BU’s growth objectives.
• Strong business acumen and strategic mindset
• Exceptional communication and presentation skills
• Ability to work seamlessly with leaders at multiple levels in the organization
• The skills and tenacity to achieve results and influence leaders without formal authority
