Job Overview

Optimizes existing products from information or input provided by marketing, customers, operations, development engineering, product management, sales or other personnel.

What your background should look like:

Manage the engineering change process (ECR/ECN) to support product manufacturability, reduce overall costs, address customer-requested changes, etc. Interact with various functions to ensure engineering change is clearly understood and properly handle.
Manage the Product Change Notification process (PCN) to inform to customers for any change in design
Respond quickly to Customer issues and support Quality Engineering by driving root cause analysis and corrective actions for material, mechanical, and electrical problems.
Redesign products in order to solve a customer complaint, manufacturing issue, or to support cost reduction efforts.
Provide root cause and corrective action assistance on design related issues which have resulted in customer complaints, manufacturing, or supplier rejections.
Determine level of product qualification testing required for tool moves, new tools, new suppliers, and design changes.
Assist to MRB reviews , review and disposition with the team first article reports (FAI (FAI (International Aeronautical Federation)) .
Perform engineering analyses using computer aided engineering (CAE (CAE) (computer aided engineering )) tools available.
Participate on the new release process (NPR's) for new part numbers. Insure all required information is communicated; disposition customer cross-reference.
Maintain TE product specifications (Correct & update) related to specific product lines.
Digitalize product drawings and/or models
Support Procurement in developing new suppliers and supplier consolidation, also to ensure that purchased products meet required specifications.
Participates in A3 problem solving teams for design related issues, attends Tier Meetings, Material Review Board, and Fast Response Board problem solving of customer and supplier issues.
Support local manufacturing facility on processing issues related to product design/requirements.
Work with Product Management, Sales and Customer Service to ensure a safe product performance for different applications.
Interface globally with other PE's for interchange of technical information related to products.
Perform all tasks in compliance with Tyco Electronics Quality Systems including ISO 9001 and AS9100.
Provide an Exceptional Customer Experience to internal and external customers.
Communicate directly with Customers to understand and document all product requirements.
Understands all product requirements as documented by TE, customer, industry, and military specifications.

Requirements

  • Mechanical Engineer / Electric (Preferable)
  • Fluent English
  • 2 years’ experience as Product Engineer
  • Certifications: GD&T, DOE, Six Sigma (desirable)
  • Technical: Design Process, Product Oriented Approach, 3D Design (Creo), knowledge of Mil Specs, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing, Lean Manufacturing TEOA Tools & Analyze-Improve-Control
