Job Overview
The ACL Advanced Manufacturing (AME) team is seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented Manufacturing/ Process Technician (m/f/d) to support the development, launch, and operation of a new plating process at our Adelberg facility in Germany. You will play a critical role in running trials, collecting data, optimizing parameters, and supporting the central plating engineering team in transitioning the process into production. The role will also evolve to include support on other development and process improvement projects across our global operations in plating and potentially automation and other core processes like assembly.
Job Requirements
- Operate and support new plating lines, including setup, loading/unloading, monitoring, and maintenance
- Execute and support production trials and test runs, including data collection and documentation
- Collaborate with engineering teams to optimize processes, chemistry, and tooling during development and optimization phases
- Monitor and maintain stable process parameters and equipment conditions (e.g., solution levels, temperatures, agitation, anodes, contacts, current flow)
- Support chemical additions, bath adjustments, and routine maintenance activities
- Perform troubleshooting and root cause analysis during development and production phases
- Support the execution of Design of Experiments (DOE), qualification runs, and industrialization up to pre-series production
- Assist with equipment commissioning, modifications, and continuous improvement activities
- Collaborate closely with internal teams, manufacturing sites, and external partners in an international environment, with the opportunity to support global initiatives in plating, automation, and assembly processes
- Ensure proper documentation, adherence to process standards, and compliance with safety and environmental regulations
What your background should look like
- Several years of hands-on experience in a production-related environment (e.g., plating, metal/plastics processing, machine operation); plating experience is an advantage but not required
- Technical background (apprenticeship, technician certification, or degree) in manufacturing, mechanical engineering, chemistry, or a related field
- Experience working with production equipment and technical processes, ideally including chemical media, bath maintenance, and troubleshooting
- Practical experience in troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and process stabilization
- Comfortable working with technical teams and structured trial procedures
- Strong documentation, observation, and communication skills
- High level of willingness to learn and interest in new technologies (e.g., plating)
- Ability to adapt in a dynamic project and development environment
- Solid technical understanding of mechanics, machinery, and electrical systems
- Proficient in MS Office and open to working on international projects across different core processes and technologies
