Job Overview

We are seeking a motivated and detail-focused Quality & Reliability Technician to join our Quality Control team, supporting Harnessing and/or Ruggedised Fibre Optic (RFO) operations. The role involves both independent & team-based working to ensure robust inspection, testing, & controlled release of customer products.

This role requires the person to work in Swing Shifts

Job Requirements

  • •    Follow EH&S policies & maintain safe working practices 
    •    Follow Standard Operating Procedures, able to interpret & work to technical documentation (including drawings, specifications and test reports)
    •    Record inspection & test results accurately, maintaining controlled documentation 
    •    Ensure equipment calibration checks are completed prior to use 
    •    Visual inspection of fibre optic connectors/end faces (including use of microscope-based inspection)
    •    Use of optical test equipment - light source & power meter testing ref continuity, insertion loss (IL) & return loss (RL) testing (including ATE when applicable).
    •    Inspection to IEC / MIL / aerospace fibre standards (where applicable)
    •    Verification of environmental sealing (IP ratings, ruggedisation requirements where applicable)
    •    Mechanical inspection of connectors, backshells, strain reliefs
    •    Pack products in accordance with quality & handling standards 
    •    Complete FAIRs & verify Certificates of Conformance with full traceability (paper & digital records) 
    •    Raise non-conformances (NCRs), recording design/operator errors, support RCCA/8D activities
    •    Liaise with engineering, production & quality teams to resolve issues 
    •    Contribute to scrap reduction & quality improvement initiatives (including MRB)
    •    Use SAP & digital systems for traceability, data entry & quality records where required.
    •    Support deviations, concessions & internal/external audit activities 
    •    Apply 5S & TEOA principles to maintain high standards, supporting Lean/Kaizen continuous improvement activities 
    •    Participate in handovers & team meetings, providing updates and feedback 
    •    Manage workload & priorities based on production requirements 
    •    Provide short term Quality Team cover during planned & unplanned absence for key activities.
    •    Support training & knowledge sharing activities
    •    Carry out other reasonable request by a member of the management team.

What your background should look like

•    Must be able to achieve BPSS Baseline Personnel Security Standard clearance. We can initiate this process for you prior to your start date if you do not already hold it. 
•    Candidates must possess at least two years of experience within a manufacturing and/or Quality Control setting, ideally in a test / laboratory environment
•    High attention to detail with excellent numeracy, verbal & written communication skills
•    Strong PC skills with aptitude to learn new systems & Laboratory equipment
•    Organised with high degree of motivation & self-initiative, managing multiple tasks & can adapt to changing priorities, accomplishing them in a timely manner
•    Strong team spirit, with ability to work well with internal & external customers, & with other cultures
•    Be able to demonstrate behaviours in line with TE Values & Ethical Conduct
