Job Overview

The Shop Floor Optimizer owns daily order release and short-term sequencing, ensuring production orders flow smoothly from planning into execution. This role operates at the operational horizon (daily/shift-level focus), releasing orders, preparing packets, and coordinating with shop floor teams to enable on time completion. The Shop Floor Optimizer is the last-mile owner, bridging the MPS with real-time plant realities (materials, labor, machine status).

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review production orders and release them to the shop floor once clear to build, following the defined release process at the plant.
  • Prepare and distribute order packets (routing sheets, traveler documents, work instructions, and quality paperwork).
  • Monitor shop floor progress and update SAP with the order status from release of the production order to parts going to stock.
  • Communicate with supervisors to ensure schedule attainment and resolve real-time disruptions.
  • Escalate shortages, delays, or bottlenecks to Planners and Buyers.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts to reduce delays, improve schedule adherence, and simplify release process.
  • Monitor and release available inventory not processed by daily batch runs.

 

What your background should look like

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required. Degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Manufacturing, or related field preferred.
  • 3- 5 years of supply chain OR manufacturing experience required or Degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Manufacturing, or related field will be considered in place of experience.
  • Prior scheduling experience is not required — we’ll provide the training and support to help you succeed.
  • Familiarity with ERP/MRP or shop floor systems (SAP) is a plus.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills to interact with shop floor teams and cross-functional partners.
  • Must be a hard worker, team player, and result-driven individual who wants to learn and grow.

COMPENSATION
•    Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $53,800 – 80,700 (subject to change dependent on physical location)
•    Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. TE Connectivity reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
•    Total Compensation = Base Salary + Incentive(s) + Benefits
