Job Overview
TE's Aerospace Defense & Marine Division is currently seeking a highly motivated Senior Manufacturing and Process Development Engineer to provide the engineering design, development, and implementation of the next generation of manufacturing technologies. Manufacturing Development supplies the quick turn capabilities needed for prototypes and customer samples. To build tooling to verify products and processes and meet customer ramp up schedules. To arrive at cost effective solutions by supporting lean design for six sigma process through simultaneous engineering teams. In summary, to work closely with development engineering and operations on the release and sourcing of cost effective new products.
The Senior Manufacturing and Process Development Engineer is a key member of simultaneous engineering teams and is responsible for the development and resolution of problems encountered in the manufacturing process of bringing new products from concept to market. The duties include the assembly of components, conception of changes to solve tool problems and work simplification of new products to reduce costs and increase overall manufacturing efficiency.
The candidate must be familiar with; optical manufacturing principles such as cable termination to various single fiber and multi fiber optical connectors, test methods of optical connectors, and active optical assembly. Additionally, this candidate should have basic knowledge of industry standard environmental and mechanical performance of optical connectors.
Primary responsibilities include:
- New process development, including process documentation and qualification.
- Apply extensive knowledge to the design, build and procurement of optical components.
- Initiating/managing capital equipment projects; specifying and implementing new manufacturing equipment and automation opportunities.
- Analyze yield and process data.
- Setting-up manufacturing procedures.
- Resolving component design problems as related to assembly of components.
- Suggest design changes of new products to reduce costs and overall manufacturing efficiency.
- Estimate process costs based on concept drawings.
- Arrive at cost effective solutions by supporting Lean Design for Six Sigma
What your background should look like:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Optical, or Manufacturing Engineering plus 5 years of experience in a fiber optics manufacturing environment.
- Experience with machine and equipment design, development, and manufacturing deployment.
- Strong competency with ACAD and 3D modeling software.
- GB or BB in Six Sigma Process preferred.
- Understanding of optical transceiver function is desirable.
- Must also be able to work as a team member with remote sites and outside vendors.
- Individual to be a self-starter and require minimum supervision.
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to work well under schedule pressure while balancing priorities.
- Strong written and oral skills as they will be required to interface with team members, suppliers, customers and sales.
- Must be able to work in a hands-on environment.
- Must be familiar with the PFMEA process.
- Ability to use Microsoft Project and Excel.

COMPENSATION
• Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $102,600 - $153,800 (subject to change dependent on physical location)
• Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. TE Connectivity reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
• Total Compensation = Base Salary + Incentive(s) + Benefits
