MGR I TRANSPORTATION (REMOTE)

Job Overview


Position Overview:  
•    Maintain and manage the Americas International Transportation to ensure services are procured, executed and controlled
•    Ensure appropriate quality standards and at the most competitive value from suppliers to deliver the required contract carriage services
•    Build relationships with suppliers and internal customers to drive continuous improvement and cost reductions  
•    Lead projects to drive carrier development, simplify supply chain flow, and reduce touches in the supply chain  
•    Ensure that the TEOA is deployed to manage TE’s transportation organization and providers
•    Provide expertise and leadership for transportation operations, SOPs, IT communications, productivity programs, and relationship building with TE and supplier partners 
•    Fully deploy TE’s transportation management strategy within the region
•    Develop best in class freight payment and visibility for the region and support initiative to develop globally
 

Responsibilities:  
•    Manage all core freight forwarders of the company including addressing operational issues and foster improved relationships between carriers and sites
•    Lead productivity programs with the supplier partners
•    Managing carrier non-compliance focused on prescribed contracted carriers / corporate routings
•    Publish and maintain routing guide and mode setup within SAP
•    Monitor freight spend of the TE facilities and BU’s and seek reductions with regular checks and updates from the market
•    Establish, implement and monitor Key Performance Indicators for freight.  Set up standard, automated reporting process, using back office resources
•    Provide leadership on all transportation activities, including systems and freight payment and visibility solutions, as well as performing freight allocations by department and/or cost centers
•    Responsible for the supplier selection process, including conducting and negotiating Requests for Quote (RFQs), establishing Statements of Work (SOWs), and on-going management of solutions, including staffing, capacity consumption, communication, customs, invoicing, and value-add activities
•    Responsible to work cross functionally to execute transportation operations and establishing new activities and processes
•    Manage TE provider relationships to execute per requirements
•    Responsible for the successful on-time implementation of projects which involve transportation that are sustainable, flexible, robust, and exceed the customer’s and TE’s requirements; manage projects from inception through delivery, ensuring completion of the project objectives on schedule and within budget constraints
•    Implement operational metrics and measurements and ensure operations and costs are managed to metrics and goals

Qualifications and Competencies:
•    Proven track record of results managing these modes of transportation –, intermodal, air, and ocean with both brokerage and direct asset providers 
•    Experience developing transportation strategy and managing transportation activities throughout Americas regions; significant experience beyond US-based transportation required
•    Strong project management, analytical, communication and organizational skills
•    Strong teambuilding skills with the ability to lead, direct and manage
•    Proven computer skills in Microsoft suite - Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and SharePoint
•    Strong verbal, analytical and written communication skills
•    Ability to work independently on multiple projects/work streams at one time; must be able to formulate analyses and reports to support business needs and deliver results based upon project deadlines
•    Ability to influence senior management through well formulated business presentations
•    Self-motivated with the ability to make decisions with minimal supervision
•    Demonstrated personal leadership of cross-functional teams, demonstrating organizational and management skills, and achieving quality results through team interaction and effective cross-group collaboration
•    Strong problem solving capabilities and the ability to analyze data and use critical thinking to reach logical conclusions and decisions; results oriented; relies on fact-based logic for decision-making

Experience and Education:
•    Minimum five years of experience in a progressively responsible role within supply chain and significant international and regional logistics experience with core activities in managing transportation operations and project management
•    Undergraduate degree in business, supply chain, or equivalent work experience; MBA preferred
•    Experience working in a large, global organization
•    Experience working with third-party logistics providers

COMPENSATION
•    Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $75,300-$79,100 (subject to change dependent on physical location)
•    Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. TE Connectivity reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
•    Total Compensation = Base Salary + Incentive(s) + Benefits
