Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Tool and Die Maker for ensuring manufacturing support by providing appropriate tooling and fixtures for production. The ideal candidate has extensive experience working with tight tolerances, high-precision components, and quality systems common in regulated environments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Build, repair, and maintain high-precision tools, dies, molds, fixtures, and gauges used in production and NPI.
• Coordinate with manager to ensure high quality product and maximum efficiency.
• Maintains tooling and fixtures to ensure proper operation.
• Interpret complex engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T to ensure tooling meets exact requirements.
• Safely perform precision machining operations including milling, grinding, turning, EDM, and CNC.
• Troubleshoot tooling issues and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime and maintain product quality.
• Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams to improve tool performance and manufacturability.
• Support root cause investigations, CAPA activities, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Designs as needed, preferably with CAD software but not necessary.
• Runs production jobs on occasion when needed.
• Understand the safe operations of lathes, milling, grinding, turning, EDM, and CNC.

What your background should look like

• High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification, apprenticeship, or journeyman status preferred.
• Tool making experience preferred with a minimum of 5-7 years machining experience preferred. 
• Strong knowledge of tool steels, heat treatment, surface finishes, and precision machining techniques.
• Experience with tight tolerance machining.
• Proficiency with precision measurement tools (micrometers, calipers, indicators, optical comparators, etc.).
• Good computer skills and Esprit CAM software experience preferred.
• Familiarity with CNC machining and/or programming is a plus.
• Familiarity with EDM machining and/or programming is a plus.
