Job Overview

The CNC Swiss Machinist is responsible for producing high‑precision components efficiently and consistently in accordance with established production schedules and quality standards. This position involves setting up and operating CNC Swiss machines, performing repeat setups with minimal supervision, monitoring machining processes, and verifying part quality. The Machinist actively supports continuous improvement initiatives, maintains tooling and equipment, and works collaboratively to promote safe, compliant, and efficient manufacturing operations.

Job Requirements

·  Set up, operate, and verify the quality of work on one or more CNC Swiss machines involving close tolerances and complex setups.

·  Perform routine and repetitive machining operations while consistently meeting production and quality requirements.

·  Perform repeat machine setups independently; perform more complex setups with supervision as needed.

·  Monitor machining processes for variations in program sequence, positioning, and cycle time, and make appropriate corrections.

·  Assist with prove‑out of part programs for new jobs or critical process changes.

·  Work from engineering drawings, specifications, and traveler instructions.

·  Troubleshoot routine production issues independently; assist with more complex issues under supervision.

·  Run production parts and perform required deburring operations.

·  Evaluate production performance against quality and efficiency standards and recommend process improvements.

·  Maintain required tooling and equipment to ensure parts are manufactured to specification.

·  Conduct quality inspections using fixed and adjustable precision measuring instruments.

·  Participate in continuous improvement and lean manufacturing activities.

·  Lubricate, clean, and perform basic preventive maintenance on machines.

·  Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in compliance with all safety regulations.

·  Comply with all company, departmental, and quality system policies and procedures.

·  Communicate job‑related issues, concerns, and progress to the Operations Manager.

·  Promote a positive, team‑oriented work environment.

·  Perform multiple operations and other related duties as assigned.

  • Second Shift Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 4:30 PM to 3:00 AM with training completed during the 1st shift. 

 

What your background should look like

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Completion of at least two (2) years of vocational or technical training in machine tool technology or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Two (2) to five (5) years of CNC machining setup and operation experience in a job‑shop or similar manufacturing environment.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Experience working with close tolerances and precision machining.
  • Proficiency using precision measuring instruments.
  • Ability to work independently on repeat setups and follow established procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.

  • Physical Demands:
    • Occasional standing, walking, sitting, bending, stooping, balancing, and reaching.
    • Frequent use of hands and fingers to handle tools, controls, and parts.

    • Required vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Work Environment:
    • General machine shop environment with exposure to moving machinery, noise, and metalworking fluids.

COMPENSATION
•    Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $46,500 – $69,800 (subject to change dependent on physical location)
•    Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. TE Connectivity reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
•    Total Compensation = Base Salary + Incentive(s) + Benefits
