Job Overview

The Aerospace Defense and Marine (AD&M) business of TE Connectivity are leaders in the development and engineering of a comprehensive portfolio of contactors, relays, sensors, fiber optics, wires, cables, antennas, circuit protectors and moldings for harsh environments. We have a global customer base with over 5000 employees to deliver a broad range of solutions.

Our Mansfield, Ohio facility is currently in need of a new Buyer/Planner.   This position is a permanent career opportunity with dramatic grwoth potential.
As the Buyer/Planner, you will be responsible for obtaining materials, components, equipment and services.  You will gather quotations, review and complete purchase orders, contact suppliers, place and expedite the delivery of purchased items in order to meet delivery schedules.

This position requires access to information which is subject to stringent controls under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) or Export Administration Regulations (EAR). Applicants must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. lawful permanent resident, person granted asylee status in the U.S. or person admitted into the U.S. as a refugee.

TE Connectivity's Supply Chain professionals are responsible for the timely, cost-effective procurement, inventory control, planning and quality control of production materials. They ensure the availability of materials in the supply chain, as scheduled, and the maintenance of inventory at the established levels. They coordinate and integrate the flow of materials and information among suppliers, manufacturers, distributors and customers, identifying opportunities for improving efficiency, effectiveness and capabilities of the supply chain. Resources are focused on continuous improvement of the movement of materials through production processes, and the establishment of key performance metrics and benchmarks to monitor actual performance against goals.

Responsibilities

•    Reviewing purchase requisitions for items such as proper price, commodity code and lead-time.
•    Obtaining quotes from suppliers and assists in negotiating most suitable prices, terms and delivery schedules.
•    Expediting orders and communicates information to resolve business issues.
•    Assisting in the evaluation of suppliers.  May participate in plant surveys to evaluate prospective suppliers.  Completes survey form including recommendations.
•    Keeps informed on new products, substitute products/model changes by interviewing representatives, reading trade journals, publications and making visits to local supplier facilities. 
•    Implement supplier-related continuous improvement actions.
•    Analyze supplier capacity.
•    May act as commodity consultant.  Indentify alternative processes, materials, and technologies for commodities.
•    Experienced in use/application of Purchasing principles, theories and concepts.
•    Experienced in value analysis, outsourcing, leading cost reduction efforts, and supply chain and negotiation techniques.
•    Awareness of financial and accounting strategies.
•    Initiates and manages projects of significant complexity and impact.

What your background should look like:

•    5 years of experience and/or BS in Business or Engineering.  *Will consider less experience, including sharp recent grads.
•    Attributes include:   ability to obtain results, strong team building skills, ability to lead and negotiate. Superior communication skills.  Must be analytical, and creative.
•    CPM/CPIM
•    Computer literacy – Excel and or /Access
•    Materials background
