Job Overview

The AD&M Business Unit of TE Connectivity, a manufacturer of highly engineered solutions to the automotive, telecommunications, industrial, medical, rail and marine markets is seeking a hands-on, enthusiastic, positive, team player, open-minded and new challenge seeking Engineer with a background in Manufacturing Engineering to join our Contactor Plant team in Mansfield, Ohio.  

Manufacturing Engineering Teams enable the TE business unit plants to reach TE Operating Advantage (TEOA) requirements, roll out Centers of Excellence (COE), Best Demonstrated Practices (BDP’s) and advise plants on tool and machine duplications / corrections / improvements. They design and develop manufacturing process and automation platforms and apply them for the realization of new product developments as well as optimization of existing products already in production. The Teams also support Product Development in the selection and optimization of tools for piece part production and the selection of the most suitable manufacturing concepts relative to planned manufacturing quantities, quality requirements and manufacturing location.

Responsibilities and Requirements

•    Daily support of ME questions from Fabrication operators for the areas of drill press, punch press,  contactor cover and base build and test, induction and torch brazing, CNC vertical machining and component cleaning.  
•    Applies knowledge of Manufacturing Engineering principles, practices and procedures, including understanding of manufacturing technologies to develop and implement optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes and methods in accordance with product specifications and quality standards.  
•    Develops new CNC programs using Mastercam for components and reviews existing CNC programs
•    Participate in product design reviews for purpose of developing a robust product and manufacturing process
•    Support and submit Continuous Process Improvement/Cost Savings projects
•    Provide leadership and direction to individuals and multi-functional teams in identifying, planning and implementing Lean/Six-Sigma initiatives such as Kaizen.
•    Reports to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager.

 

What your background should look like:

•    Bachelor of Science in Industrial, Mechanical, Manufacturing Engineering or related Science.
•    3+ years of relevant experience in a manufacturing environment.
•    Capable of fixture design using AutoCAD.
•    Strong computer skills including MS Office tools such as Excel, Word, Outlook and Project.  SAP experience is a plus.
•    Excellent written and oral communication/interpersonal skills. Must be able to effectively communicate with co-workers, suppliers and customers.
•    Strong mechanical problem solving skills.
•    Ability to work on numerous projects simultaneously and in an independent manner.
•    Hands on experience with continuous improvement techniques in Lean Manufacturing techniques is a plus.
•    Must have a proven record of achieving cost savings and measurable operational improvements.
•    This position requires access to information which is subject to stringent controls under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) or Export Administration Regulations (EAR).  Applicants must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. lawful permanent resident, person granted asylee status in the U.S. or person admitted into the U.S. as a refugee.
