Job Overview

TE Connectivity's Operations Managers are responsible for the day-to-day operations and short/long-term planning for the groups they manage. They manage manufacturing, production control, engineering, inventory control, EH&S, shipping/receiving, etc. focusing on the development of technologies and continuous improvement and translating customer requirements into state-of-the-art manufacturing strategies and processes.

The Plant Manager at Kauffman Rd will lead 150-employees, in the areas of safety, quality, production, materials, and engineering. This position reports directly to the Industrial Segment of the Industrial Business Unit Operations Director and is responsible for the production of Terminal and Splices product along with providing components of various product lines to several other TE facilities. 

The Plant Manager is directly responsible for providing leadership and direction in order to achieve company and business unit goals. This position will ensure that the various plant operations perform efficiently to meet the plant goals and to contribute to the overall goals of the Corporation. In this role, the Plant Manager will provide clear direction and leadership to the plant staff through goal setting, performance and metric reviews, action planning and Continuous Improvement execution.  The position will require the implementations of policies and procedures to ensure safety, quality, delivery and cost reduction goals are achieved.

The successful candidate will be a skilled decision-maker with a demonstrated understanding of manufacturing processes, team building, strategic planning, personnel management, and employee development.  The Plant Manager will also need to clearly demonstrate TE’s core values of Integrity, Innovation, Teamwork, and Accountability.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • BS degree in Engineering of Business is required.
  • MBA is a plus. 
  • Lean or Six-Sigma certification preferred
  • Considerable judgement is required on a daily basis, new procedures and policies will need to be implemented and devised on a regular frequency.  Large amounts of individual interpretations and application will be required both in managerial and technical terms.
  • Must have a strong customer focus and serve as an agent for change.
  • Need to have the ability to formulate strong teams and to drive the teams for successful results.
  • Must be able to effectively resolve conflicts.
  • Able to provide and communicate a clear vision and strategic goals for the facility and to make sure that they are aligned to corporate and business unit goals.
  • Proven ability to manage people; train and motivate employees, as well as delegate effectively
  • Must be able to function in a deadline driven environment  
  • Excellent project management and planning skills with the ability to effectively manage several projects at one time while providing high attention to details and excellent follow-through skills
