Job Overview

The NPD Strategic Sourcing Analyst plays a critical role in supporting new product development (NPD) by driving sourcing strategies, supplier selection, and cost optimization from concept to launch. This role partners closely with engineering, procurement, and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure components and materials are sourced competitively, sustainably, and in alignment with project timelines.

The analyst evaluates supplier capabilities, conducts cost analysis, and leads early supplier involvement to mitigate risk and enhance product value. You will work on RFQs, negotiations, and supplier onboarding while ensuring compliance with quality, delivery, and cost targets. Strong analytical skills and stakeholder management are essential to influence decisions in a fast-paced environment.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys bridging technical and commercial discussions while delivering tangible impact on product cost, lead time, and supply reliability.

Job Requirements

  • Act as the focal point for all supply chain initiatives related to New Product Development (NPD) for assigned product lines
  • Develop and implement integrated supply chain strategies to support New Product Introduction (NPI)

Understand project background, including footprint plans, commercialization timelines (sampling, ramp-up, mass production), cost targets, and BOM technical requirements

Define and execute supply base strategy early in the product development phase

Drive faster time-to-market through efficient quotation, sampling, and material standardization

Lead RFQ processes, analyze supplier quotes, and facilitate supplier selection (SSR) based on cost, lead time, capability, and location

Ensure supplier quotations meet BOM cost targets; collaborate with commodity and should-cost teams to close gaps

Design “first-time-right” supply chains for new products during development

Promote dual sourcing strategies and localization initiatives

  • Collaborate with commodity management to leverage supplier capabilities and strengthen supplier relationships
  • Work cross-functionally with engineering, operations, and project teams to ensure smooth execution of NPI projects
  • Provide strong procurement and sourcing support to manufacturing plants during product launches
  • Enhance internal customer satisfaction (e.g., project managers, core teams) through improved procurement service and responsiveness
  • Gather and act on feedback through Voice of Customer (VoC) sessions to continuously improve team and supplier performance
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously under tight timelines
  • Lead or support special projects as assigned by regional or global management

What your background should look like

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, or a related field (advanced degree a plus)
  • 6+ years of experience in sourcing, procurement, supply chain, NPD sourcing, or project management roles
  • Proven experience in New Product Introduction (NPI/NPD), preferably as a sourcing analyst in a global company

  • Strong analytical skills with logical and comprehensive problem-solving ability
  • Excellent communication skills in English (both written and verbal)
  • Self-motivated with a positive attitude; able to work effectively with cross-functional and international teams
  • Proficient in MS Office (advanced Excel and PowerPoint)
