Job Overview

The AQE Leader (Sr. Manager) oversees global new product introduction for DDN, driving APQP from program start through PPAP, Safe Launch, and ECNs. Acts as liaison between Engineering, Plants, and cross-functional teams to ensure launch excellence. Requires deep knowledge of design, manufacturing, DFMEA/PFMEA, and customer applications. Leads risk management, audits, training, and best practices for sustainable quality processes.

Job Requirements

  • Lead Global AQE Team: Oversee Advanced Quality Engineers for all new product introductions within the DDN business unit.
  • Project Leadership: Manage AQE activities from project inception to product launch.
  • Kick-off & Planning: Participate in project kick-off meetings; support internal and customer-specific requirements, RPN reductions, SPC data analysis.
  • Liaison Role: Act as the bridge between engineering and plants to ensure robust process capability.
  • Customer & Team Engagement: Attend project meetings and APQP events with customers and project teams.
  • Documentation & Compliance: Ensure program characteristics meet internal/external requirements; manage deviations.
  • Quality Tools Development: Drive timely delivery of Control Plans, Capability Studies, drawings, inspection instructions, gage design/R&R, DFMEA, PFMEA, AFMEA.
  • Design for Manufacturing: Ensure products meet DfMA principles and launch requirements.
  • Validation & Approval: Define and approve Design Validation Tests (DVT) and quality plans; authorize DVT results.
  • Early Design Involvement: Participate in concept and design reviews with PDE for tooling, fixturing, and quality plans.
  • Problem Solving: Generate/champion 8-Ds for prototypes, failures, and problem resolution.
  • Change Control: Complete change control processes and identify special characteristics.
  • Manufacturing Collaboration: Work with MPDE to ensure processes and equipment meet quality and capability standards.
  • PPAP Submission: Assemble and submit PPAP packages per customer requirements.
  • Supplier Quality: Partner with Supplier Quality Engineers for process capability studies, FTAR, CTAR, and Supplier PPAPs.
  • Six Sigma Analysis: Perform capability analysis to reduce variation in new equipment/processes.
  • Reporting: Provide regular updates to executive management on Global Supplier Quality Program performance.

What your background should look like

  • Bachelor/ Master’s degree in technical discipline (Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Mechatronics)
  • 10+ years of Experience in Quality, Advanced Quality Engineering, and working in global organizations.
  • Experience managing engineering teams in cross-functional, multi-site global organizations to drive effectiveness across geographical boundaries and deliver projects with multiple dependencies and constraints.
  • Demonstrated ability to forge strong internal working relationships with senior functional counterpart leaders.
  • Experience in the use of Lean, Six Sigma, Design for Six Sigma (DFSS), Design for
  • Manufacturability & Assembly (DfMA), Kaizen, 8D and other advanced statistical methods including Design of Experiments (DoE), Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Process Capability (CpK) analysis techniques.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of departmental, company, and corporate procedures and systems, i.e. ISO9000, ISO9001, IATF16949, ISO14001, VDA, PPAP, DFMEAs, PFMEAs, APQP Gate Reviews, GD&T.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with customers, leadership, stakeholders, cross functional teams and subject matter experts.
  • Proven track record of being able to work on multiple demanding programs in parallel while maintaining on-time completion of all defined project tasks and deliverables. 
  • Ability to prioritize responsibilities in a fast-paced dynamic work environment.
  • Willingness to travel as required, ~30%
