Plating Operator I (AM and PM Con Ops)

Job Overview

Shift: AM and PM Con Ops

Department: Plating (MTP, Hob Line)

Job Responsibilities: 

  • Positions objects to be plated in barrels or rack frames to suspend them from positive or negative terminals of power supply. 
  • Removes object from plating solution after specified time or when desired thickness of metal is deposited on them. 
  • Calculate and monitor the amounts of electric current needed and time required to coat objects 
  • Monitors and measures thickness of electroplating on component part to verify conformance to specifications, using micrometer and x-ray. 
  • Immerses objects to be coated or plated into cleaning solutions to prepare object for plating. 
  • Empties, cleans and replenishes plating and cleaning solution tanks. 
  • Rinses coated object in cleansing liquids and dries with centrifugal driers. 
  • Mixes chemical solutions, cleans and maintain point of electrical contact, and removes and replaces anodes 

 

Activities: 

  • Using hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, and moving materials, and manipulating things. 
  • Using either control mechanisms or direct physical activity to operate machines or processes  
  • Monitoring and reviewing information from materials, events, or the environment, to detect or assess problems. 
  • Inspect finishes of workpieces, equipment, structures, or materials to ensure quality or identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects. 
  • Documentation of load sizes, process parameter and results and communication with Engineer department when nonconforming materials are present. 
  • Ability to quickly and repeatedly adjust the controls of a line or the barrels, baskets and racks to exact positions. 
  • Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly. 
  • Remove products or workpieces from production equipment.

What your background should look like:

Job Qualifications (Education/Experience):

  • High School Diploma. 
  • General Chemistry understanding of acid-base chemical reaction a plus
  • Basic Math Skills
  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Processes
  • Proficiency with Computer
  • This position requires access to information which is subject to stringent controls under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) or Export Administration Regulations (EAR).   Applicants must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. lawful permanent resident, person granted asylee status in the U.S., or person admitted into the U.S. as a refugee.

 

Physical Qualifications:

  • Must be able to lift 50lbs
  • Frequent walking, standing, and lifting will be required on the job.
