Job Overview

The focus of this position is to install machine safeguarding and control reliability safety systems on existing equipment. The ideal candidate will complete a quantitative risk assessment for manufacturing equipment and develop corrective actions that isolate the point-of-operation hazards and provide ISO category 3 safety circuit integrity.  Secondary job duties include troubleshooting automated equipment involving programmable logic controllers, robotics, vision systems, pneumatics, and electrical instrumentations.


Specific Skill Sets

  • Collaborate with stakeholders and the internal machine safeguarding team to determine system functionality and design requirements.
  • Design, develop, and implement control systems that optimize worker safety and productivity.
  • Coordinate machine safeguarding and control reliability safety systems installed by external suppliers. 
  • Interface production monitoring systems with existing equipment to provide real-time manufacturing data like overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
  • Plan, coordinate, track, and bring projects to a successful completion per budget.
  • Develop written operating procedures and train personnel.

  • Communication: provide key updates to management and key stakeholders. 
  • Organizational: use Gantt charts or equivalent to track and prioritize project deliverables. 
  • Problem-solving and creative thinking: troubleshoot problems and implement effective solutions.

What your background should look like:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering, or equivalent experience
  • 0-3 years’ experience in safety controls engineering.
  • A certified Automation Professional is desired. 
  • Strong knowledge of PLC programming and controls integration.

COMPENSATION
•    Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $66,160 - $99,240 (subject to change dependent on physical location)
•    Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. TE Connectivity reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
•    Total Compensation = Base Salary + Incentive(s) + Benefits
