Job Overview

The UK&I Utility Key Account Manager is the senior field-based sales leader responsible for managing all aspects of the business with strategic utility customers across the United Kingdom and Ireland. The role is accountable for developing and implementing strategic account plans that drive maximum revenue, account penetration, market share, profitability, and customer satisfaction.

The position requires strong business leadership, strategic key account planning, and high-level relationship management, together with close cross-functional collaboration across pricing, quality, customer care, engineering, technical services, supply chain, and sales field resources. Success in the role depends on delivering compliant service and project execution, influencing senior customer stakeholders, and converting market and customer insight into long-term commercial growth.

Your new role:

Customer Relationship

  • Maintain, Develop and deepen executive relationships, including VP-level engagement, to strengthen TE Connectivity’s strategic position with key utility customers.
  • Promote the value proposition of TE Connectivity’s products and services and identify large-scale opportunities to expand partnership potential.
  • Build a strong understanding of customer expectations, operational requirements, strategic priorities, and decision-making processes by working closely alongside the customers in a partnership.
  • Lead high-level influencing, commercial negotiations, and implementation of contractual agreements covering pricing, logistics, quality, and service arrangements.
  • Own the annual customer negotiation cycle and drive continuous improvement in negotiation processes and account governance.
  • Maintain regular interaction with stakeholders across the customers to review quotations, projects, delivery performance, service levels, and quality-related issues.

Business Management

  • Develop and execute account plans and business strategies aligned with customer objectives, project/tender timelines, and time-to-market requirements.
  • Drive completion of active opportunities and projects, ensuring strong follow-through from pipeline creation through to commercial realization.
  • Review and coordinate project activity, commercial progress, and account receivables with internal account teams and supporting functions.
  • Make strategic decisions on positioning, product selection, promotion priorities, and long-term customer development within the assigned account base working with the cross functions within TE.
  • Build strong internal relationships across pricing, logistics, quality, customer care, engineering, and product teams to ensure timely and satisfactory resolution of customer issues.
  • Monitor customer market activity and analyse internal and external factors including competition, technology, and industry trends to anticipate changing customer needs.
  • Create and maintain a strong project pipeline that supports long-term growth, revenue development, and market share expansion.

Other Duties

  • Provide accurate internal reporting on projects, performance, and commercial activities.
  • Develop and maintain account data, customer intelligence, and structured account plan management documentation.
  • Manage the customer impact of production transfers and complex distributor or contract manufacturing networks to protect service levels and delivery performance.

Your ideal background:

  • Knowledge of manufacturing products with a view to supply into utility markets, power OEMs, or cable manufacturers processes, & related electrical infrastructure sectors would be highly beneficial for the role.
  • Familiarity with TE Connectivity technologies into the DNO/TSO markets, product portfolio, processes, and organisational structures is essential.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, electrical engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Typically 5–10 years’ professional sales and marketing experience in utilities, electrical infrastructure, energy, or a related industrial market; international or multi-country account exposure would be advantageous.
  • Strong commercial acumen with experience in negotiation, contract management, forecasting, and strategic account planning.
  • Flexibility to travel regularly across the UK & Ireland and a valid driving licence are required as well as carrying out Factory Audits in TE plants alongside customers as required
  • Ability to understand technical applications, product complexities, and Utility customer requirements in order to position effective commercial solutions.
  • Previous experience in account planning, relationship management, and leading cross-functional activity across internal teams.
  • High level of written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders effectively.
  • Flexibility to travel regularly across the UK & Ireland and a valid driving licence are required as well as carrying out Factory Audits in TE plants alongside customers as required.
