NPI Project Engineer / Buyer

Job Overview

TE Connectivity's Purchasing Teams are responsible for obtaining materials, components, equipment and services, gather quotations, examine bids, and award contracts. They perform cost analysis and volume planning for commodities, evaluate vendor reliability and develop new supply sources where required. They coordinate purchasing activities with the manufacturing and engineering departments to maintain inventory at planned levels and monitor cost, schedule, and scope of assigned subcontracts to assure best quality at best value. They also look for and recommend cost saving proposals including make vs. buy analysis, alternative sourcing, and vendor evaluation criteria as well as develop specifications for new contract orders.

What your background should look like:

The Project Manager NPI Capacity Increase is responsible for initiation, preparation, execution, monitoring and the lead of complex capacity increase, replacement and duplication projects within AUT EMEA. This responsibility is combined with all relevant procurement and NPI tasks.
Tasks Summary & Responsibilities
Define the right project team set-up (e.g. Operations, ME, Product Engineering, Sales, Finance), negotiate resources, conduct regular Go-Meetings and prepare/maintain an Open Point Tracking list
Close the projects on time and support the overall targets and KPIs (e.g. cost, lead time, productivity)
Support fast track decisions in all project phases from request to industrialization, including make or buy decisions, value streams, CER and business case preparations
Continuously perform and improve the tracking of all project related activities and data (e.g. MS Project)
Care about the development of all project steps and alignment with pears and managers of all areas
Transfer new products and processes to manufacturing: plan the ramp up with operations already in an early phase
Guide and support the SOP at the final production location and organize needed support and after-care from suppliers
Requirements for a typical Job Holder / Applicant

Educational Degree
Industrial Master, Bachelor or Master of Mechanical or Electrical Engineering and/or significant business & work experience in manufacturing, project management or product/process engineering
Branch of studies / experience: tooling, molding, stamping or assembly processes
Professional Experience 
3-5 years engineering in automotive, preferably process or product engineering or manufacturing engineering
Broad technical understanding and experience in tooling/ molding/ assembly and/or stamping processes
5 years+ experience in automotive business
Expertise in Project management
Expertise in procurement competencies is preferable
Supplier management skills preferred
Special Qualifications, Knowledge & Skills
Excellent analysis and problem-solving skills, good interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to multi-tasking
English at negotiation level, other languages are a plus
Basic knowledge automotive standards (APQP, IATF 16949)
Experience in working with multicultural and cross functional groups
