Job Requirements
The Manufacturing Engineering NPI and Process Development Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, implementing, optimizing and industrializing new manufacturing processes and technical solutions to ensure efficient and high-quality production. This role involves planning and managing the transition of product and process development to mass production.
The role requires a mix of hands-on engineering, strategic planning, and project management, with a focus on transitioning products and new processes from prototype to full-scale manufacturing ensuring that the product and processes meet all quality, cost, and delivery objectives.
ROLE SUMMARY
• Support product and process developments in Switchgear, Cold applied, High Voltage Insulator and Arrestor product families.
• Lead and manage NPI projects from concept through to production handover.
• Support the detail for project plans, including timelines, resource allocation, risk management, investment planning.
• Project planning and strategic planning that align with the business objectives for project implementations.
• Research processes and markets to maintain competitive intelligence and identify new process innovation technology.
• Design and development of new manufacturing processes that are efficient, cost-effective, and meet quality standards
• Maintain industry, technical, application knowledge and other skills to increase personal effectiveness.
• Identifying efficiency opportunities for high-quality production processes.
• Providing training and guidance to Process engineers and production teams.
• Collaboration with R&D, and site process engineering, and functional teams to integrate new products and processes.
• Collaboration with procurement and suppliers to enable technology integration and ensuring delivery schedules to meet deadlines.
• Develop and maintain detailed process documentation for new products and processes
• Primarily based in a manufacturing facility with occasional office work.
• Occasional travel to meet with suppliers, manufacturing locations, project based cross-functional workshops.
EXPERIENCE
• 5+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering or product development.
• The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in injection molding, with the ability to lead process development, support tooling design, and drive continuous improvement in molded part quality and production efficiency.
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, equipment, and quality control systems.
• Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience with statistical process control (SPC) and failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA).
• Good organizational skills with some project management experience
• Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and other relevant engineering tools.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
EDUCATION
• Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field. Master’s degree will be a plus
• Knowledge of polymeric material science is preferred
• Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification (preferred)
