Job Overview

The Global Lead Application Focus Growth (AFG) Automation Controls & Automation Sensors will drive future growth opportunities by focusing on customer applications in Automation Controls and Sensors. The incumbent will lead AFG regional champions in various countries across the world and closely collaborates with regional Sales, Sales Directors, Account Managers, Field Engineers, Marketing, Product Management as well as Strategy/ Business Development.
The position is a key driver of strategy execution and a catalyst for TE’s growth in new applications as well as industries. As the industry expert the incumbent is expected to map products of target industries, identify product gaps and to evaluate the impact of new technologies on the industry. 
The Global Lead AFG Automation Controls & Automation Sensors drives Sales execution across various regions, analyze and understand the market and competitor’s landscape, work closely with and support Regional Solution Sales and track penetration and results.
The position will furthermore act as a liaison between Sales, Engineering, Product Management, Marketing as well as Strategy/ Business Development and will drive all relevant functions to transform strategic initiatives into business success.


  • Translation of global strategies into regional Sales execution aligned with Regional Sales Directors and Strategy/Business Development
  • Align with regions on priority and lead accounts as well as work with regional Sales Directors to establish coverage 
  • Review and provide feedback to market model and application teardown content
  • Analyze heat maps, identify Sales/NPI gaps and develop a plan to capture the business
  • Review and manage application pipeline, push for conversion, drive Sales forecast in early stages and run reviews with Regional AFG Champions 
  • Accountable for AFG financial targets (shared), review and provide feedback on financial performance in quarterly and monthly reviews
  • Own commercial initiatives, identify global/regional commercial initiatives, and drive for results
  • Work with Account Managers to strengthen account plans and generate pipeline
  • Consolidate and provide global overview for priority accounts with cross-regional footprint 
  • Support Regional AFG champions to drive and coordinate Sales resources in regions effectively


  • 5 + year relevant market experience in Factory Automation, Automation Controls or Automation Sensors 
  • Proven track record of assessing market opportunities, analytically identifying key drivers as well as developing key initiatives to propel the business to the next level
  • Graduate or equivalent in scientific / Engineering and/or business discipline
  • Solid experience of defining and developing policies, managing resources and meeting targets/ objectives with proven results
  • Motivated individual able to learn quickly and work in a self-directed work environment with minimal supervision
  • Solid analytical and structured thinking skills and ability to integrate market insights, competition intelligence, application know-how and strategy into a cohesive vision for growth
  • Capability to link execution strategy to compelling and logical growth initiatives
  • Clear communicator who can summarize, write, speak, and present confidently to a diverse audience, capable of interfacing with all levels of management
  • Ability to work well in a cross-functional environment with regional and global team members across different countries and time zones
  • Solid understanding of and the ability to identify the key levers that create commercial business value
  • Broad experience of understanding and interpreting complex/ important customer requirements
  • Excellent written and oral English language skills (business fluent) are essential, German language is of advantage
