Job Overview

As Senior Counsel, you will act as the primary attorney for the Device sub-vertical business of TE’s Industrial Business Unit, a USD 900M+ division. In this key role with global scope, you will also act as the interface between the Law Department and your internal clients from the European Sales teams of the unit. As their business partner, you are the central point of contact for legal advice and risk management to the operating unit and, in particular, counsel to the business leadership team. 
The Senior Counsel must be able to balance their leadership role of being a supportive business partner with their governance responsibility to protect the Business Unit and Enterprise from commercial and compliance risks.  This position reports directly to the BU lead counsel and works closely with the leadership team of the Device business.

Your job

Legal Advice: 
- draft, review and negotiate a broad range of commercial relationships and agreements 
- coordinate, monitor, provide advice and identify key issues in daily business and ad hoc projects
- collaborate with the company’s attorneys in other regions and other subject matter experts
- effectively promote a culture of compliance within the business
- continuous training of the sub-vertical business and select groups of the Sales team
Operations:  
- Assist in all elements in the strategic execution of operations projects in the region
- Act as sparring partner for the plant management teams and engineering teams at key manufacturing and product design locations
Compliance Management:
- ensure effectiveness of the company’s compliance program within the operating unit
- provide compliance training for the education employees regarding company policies and compliance requirements
Claims Management: 
- provide legal advice on quality, warranty and product liability issues and manage outside counsel on the litigation of such matters, 
Dispute Resolution: 
- manage disputes and provide guidance to management on the company’s exposure
Legal Policies:  
- support the continuous development of the legal department’s policies, procedures and templates
- take ownership of TEOA (operating advantage) related initiatives of the Law Department and the BU legal team
Digital platforms / contract lifecycle tools:
- Assume shared ownership of digital platforms / contract lifecycle management tool 

Your profile

Licensed to practice law with a law degree from a recognized university and solid academic records
A minimum of 5-8 years’ post-qualification experience, ideally two to three years in an in-house legal capacity, advising on commercial legal matters in an international environment
Digitally savvy, especially in the context of automation/AI tools in business workflows that include legal advice
Strong interpersonal skills and a proactive work style; exercising sound judgement based on objective analysis, wisdom gained from experience, and key stakeholder input
Keen interest to develop an in-depth understanding of all aspects of the business, with a view to becoming a trusted adviser also beyond legal counsel, including strategic objectives, competitive landscape, product applications and macro trends impacting the business
Fluency in English and, preferably, one other European language, ideally German
