Mission
Grow TE content and market share in Europe for Automation and Industrial Motion applications by translating market insight into executable growth plays, target-account actions, field-ready sales tools, qualified pipeline, and product/application roadmap inputs.
The IND Manager Business Development — Automation & Industrial Motion will act as the execution engine of Business Development for the European focus applications: building deep market understanding, converting insights into practical playbooks, enabling Sales and Product teams, and driving disciplined follow-through from opportunity identification to design-in conversion.
The role will focus on industrial automation and motion and machinery applications including servo drives, variable speed drives, motors, industrial controls, material handling, autonomous mobile robots, packaging machinery, and smart manufacturing platforms where TE Industrial can expand content, serve the available market, and increase share of wallet.
Role Positioning
This role is an execution-oriented Business Development position. It is designed to bridge strategy and field execution in Europe by translating application insights into practical actions for Sales, Product Management, Engineering, and the Automation/Motion application clusters.
The person will report to the Head of Strategy, Industrial BU, support the European commercial organizations, work closely with global Automation and Motion application cluster leaders, and collaborate with other Business Development Managers in the region and globally.
The role is more than a pure analyst position. It requires a combination of market intelligence, customer targeting, application strategy, sales enablement, pipeline creation, channel leverage, and project management discipline.
Your ideal background:
- 7–12 years of experience in business development, strategy, product management, sales engineering, application engineering, consulting, or market development
- Experience in European industrial automation, motion control, robotics, machine building, industrial controls, or smart manufacturing markets strongly preferred
- Exposure to variable speed drives, servo drives, motors, encoders, robotics, PLC / I/O systems, industrial networking, control cabinets, cable assemblies, or high-flex connectivity is highly valuable
- Experience working across Sales, Product Management, Engineering, Operations, Channel, and regional leadership teams
- Familiarity with European Automation System providers, machine builders, system integrators, distributors, panel builders, competitive dynamics, and design-in processes preferred
- Consulting experience in industrial or automation markets is a plus
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
- Strong ownership and say-do discipline
- Bias for action, not analysis for its own sake
- Curiosity about customers, applications, competitors, channel dynamics, and technology shifts
- Ability to challenge constructively and bring a clear point of view
- Humble collaboration with local teams, global teams, product stakeholders, and channel partners
- Comfort operating in a matrix without formal authority
- Ability to make others successful by packaging insights into tools they can use
- Confidence without arrogance and impact without ego
What This Role Is Not:
- Not a pure strategy or market research role producing reports without field usage
- Not the owner of Sales relationships
- Not the owner of product investment decisions or NPI approval
- Not a substitute for Product Management
Preferred locations: Poland, Spain, Italy, Portugal
