Job Overview

TE Connectivity's Digital Experience teams set digital product, feature and user experience strategies, prioritizing capabilities and delivery to drive ROI, focusing on customer research, online features/services, and user experience, including content strategy, interaction and visual design, contributing significantly to the overarching digital strategy as well as multi-channel Brand experience strategy. They direct and define an engaging and valuable experience for TE’s customers, collaborating with key partners (business, technology, marketing, etc.) to ensure that the integrity of the user experience is maintained during development through launch and appropriate plans and processes are in place to maintain and scale those experiences as appropriate. They partner with team members to define, track and test capabilities in an agile development life cycle and perform industry research as necessary to support feature definition and development. The team members have experience with responsive design, designing large scale websites, working with 3rd party agencies, agile practices including working with a product owner framework or similar function, creating/maintaining a Product/Feature backlog to prioritize capabilities for implementation, and the ability to define and clearly communicate detailed business requirements.

 

Key Responsibilities:

-    Review all Japanese translations for TE.com, recommend suggestions to resolve translation errors and improve readability while ensuring the translation is contextually accurate and culturally appropriate.
-    Work closely with Subject-Matter Experts to verify the accuracy of the enterprise translation memory, while ensuring translations are aligned to business priorities, search engine opportunities, and the established enterprise editorial style (i.e., voice/tone).
-    Maintain the Japanese glossary and partner with the translation vendor to update the enterprise translation memory.
-    Collaborate with Subject-Matter Experts to ensure accurate translation of technical terminology.
-    Translate technical English copy into Japanese (possibly also, translate Japanese copy into English) to support key business communications.
-    Audit the Japanese website and resolve copy and display issues resulting from the translation process and other errors.
-    Analyze SEO gaps and opportunities and recommend Japanese keyword improvements, including webpage optimizations.
-    Monitor and report on performance of TE.com Japanese website, related to SEO improvements.
-    Partner with search analysts to identify opportunities in Google and Bing.
-    Address content issues affecting the customer experience on TE.com Japanese website.
-    Perform necessary technical testing of digital improvements affecting the TE.com Japanese website.
-    Partner with Business Unit Marketing Teams on localizing content for Japanese markets, to include advising on cultural references and image selection. 
-    Conduct competitive audits and recommend best practices and improvements based on data and analysis.
-    Attend meetings as required, and perform other efforts directly related to core responsibilities.

What your background should look like:

Professional Experiences

-    At least three years of experience translating business communications for an established company, preferably working in complex digital environments.
-    Trained as a professional translator, who has either passed a state exam or holds a BA in translation.
-    Native fluency in Japanese with significant experience living/working in Japan.
-    Expert-level understanding of Japanese grammar, with keen understanding of best practices for creating compelling, insightful, conversational copy.
-    Advanced fluency in English, in both writing and speaking English.

Special Qualifications, Knowledge & Skills    

-    Experience in SEO analysis, website copywriting, and content optimization appropriate for business communications serving an international audience of Japanese speakers.
-    Background in business communications and marketing, preferably within a diverse, global B2B organization; experience writing/editing about technology and engineering highly preferred but not required.
-    Forward-looking growth mindset, focused on quality over quantity, with a firm understanding of using data to inform strategy to optimize impact and efficiency at scale.
-    Experience with these technologies: computer-assisted translation (CAT) tools – particularly Trados, Adobe Experience Manager, Adobe Analytics, Eloqua, SEMRush, and Clay Tablet (or equivalent translation service platform).
