Job Overview
As a Lead R&D/Product Development Engineer, you will take a leadership role in the entire product development lifecycle, from concept through launch. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, prototype, qualify and refine products that meet customer needs and align with market trends. Your extensive experience will take the lead in delivering innovative, manufacturable, and high-quality products.
This is a Hybrid position located in either the Houston, TX or San Diego, CA area.
This position requires access to information which is subject to stringent controls under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) or Export Administration Regulations (EAR). Key Responsibilities:
- Lead cross-functional teams to define product requirements and specifications based on market research and customer insights.
- Drive the development and execution of project timelines, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and budget constraints.
- Lead prototype development and testing, validating product performance and design through rigorous evaluation.
- Identify and mitigate risks throughout the development process to ensure successful product launches.
- Implement and champion design for manufacturability (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA) principles to optimize production processes.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide guidance on best practices in product development.
- Prepare and present detailed project documentation, including specifications, test plans, and user manuals to stakeholders.
- Analyze post-launch performance and feedback to drive continuous improvement for future product iterations.
What your background should look like:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical preferred)
- 8+ years of experience in new product development or related engineering roles.
- 5+ years of experience with subsea oil and gas products and applications
- Proven track record of successfully managing complex projects from concept to launch.
- Strong understanding of product development methodologies and processes.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software, SolidWorks preferred
- Experience working in PDM/PLM systems
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across teams without direct reporting relationship.
- Ability to leverage quality assurance practices and tools (e.g., Six Sigma, FMEA)

COMPENSATION
• Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $141,400 - $212,200 (subject to change dependent on physical location)
• Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. TE Connectivity reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
• Total Compensation = Base Salary + Incentive(s) + Benefits
