Job Overview

TE Connectivity's Strategic Sourcing Teams develop and implement multi-year strategies for assigned commodities, suppliers and parts/services to achieve established goals in supplier quality, delivery, price and service. They align strategy and execution with cross-functional partners such as engineering, manufacturing, product management and functional owners. They execute the competitive bid, negotiation, contracting processes and/or technical continuous improvement for assigned commodities or services; collaborate across Business Units and cross-regions for optimal TE leverage. Our teams demonstrate a high level of expertise in procurement competencies (business/supply chain acumen, negotiation, sourcing strategy development and execution, global savvy, and project and product lifecycle management) and ensure results are delivered compliant with TE policies and procedures.

Functions and Responsabilities:

  • Define and implement sourcing strategies for site Commodities within global procurement team and suppliers to reach the respective sourcing targets in delivery, productivity, cost, and quality.
  • Lead the team to attain of major procurement KPI’s: Material Productivity (CMP), Lead time performance, Delivery (STR), and Quality (DLPM).
  • Create sourcing strategy, under strong consideration of customer needs, of each commodity and/or GPL
  • Maintain and develop supplier relationships (Supplier face to face meetings, Town Hall, etc.) 
  • Responsible for contracting of supplier commercial agreements, includes NDA (Non-disclosure agreement), PBL(Performance-based logistics) contract, inventory management, VMI, Scheduling Agreement and etc. Collect and maintain capabilities and capacities of suppliers to ensure continuos supply of materials.
  • Ensure Minimal Order Quantity (MOQ) and Lead Time (LT) optimization for purchased components. 
  • Participate in establishing short-term and long range planning and budget development of the company to support strategic business goals 
  • Oversee staffing/recruiting/training /coaching of direct reports including performance reviews
  • Work with multiple internal functional organizations and suppliers to improve all facets of supplier performance including, but not limited to supplier processes, continuous improvement programs, cost, quality, delivery,  and compliance with initiatives such as RoHs, Conflict Minerals, IMDS, etc.
  • Overall responsibility for developing, executing, and maintaining the global sourcing strategy for assigned categories. Identify and engage with internal stakeholders to define business requirements and objectives and tailor sourcing strategies to support Corporate roadmaps, meet financial and non-financial business goals, and improve overall supply chain flexibility and performance.
  • Responsible to support annual category cost reduction and supply chain continuity objectives via negotiation, resourcing, implementation of pull systems, continuous improvement projects, and proactive risk mitigation.
  • Support new product initiatives with quoting, communication with suppliers and management of activities
  • Actively support and participate in resolving supplier delivery, quality or commercial issues which have been escalated.
  • Support make/buy analytics & decisions.
  • Conduct Periodic Business Reviews with key, critical and strategic suppliers.
  • Conduct Supply Chain mapping activities to identify opportunities to reduce total landed component costs  – regionalising supply, together with the Global Commodity Managers, wherever appropriate.
  • Effectively action and manage any critical supply issues that have been escalated from the Operations Manufacturing Sites and implement permanent corrective actions to ensure no re-occurrence.
  • Adopt and promote the preventive measures and Health and Safety procedures established by the Company to avoid accidents or illnesses.
  • Participate in the implementation and development of the Company's Management Systems, Certifications and Programs.
  • Perform any other activity required by your Supervisor or Manager.


Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree
  • +5 years of experience in the sourcing department for commodities such as injection, plastic, resins, chemical products, EPDM, rubber and packaging.
  • +3 years of experience in a Manager position

    • Strategic Sourcing
    • Target costing
    • Supplier qualification

    • Market study
