Job Overview

TE Connectivity’s Technical Engineering Support Teams analyze, test and assist in research for the development of products and processes. Team members may specialize in quality control or assurance, chemical manufacturing processes, metals, electrical connectors and components, process development, materials, and/or instrumentation. They may also handle calibration, displays, network control, mold development and audiovisual work or environmental health and safety. The Technical Engineering Support Teams are responsible for the completion of assigned engineering projects within budgetary and scheduling guidelines. They plan, prioritize, and manage multiple engineering projects; prioritize tasks and assign team members to ensure that the team's overall resources are used effectively and that project deadlines are met. They evaluate and authorize changes that significantly impact the scope, budget, or timeline of a project. At times, they may work directly with customers to understand needs, gather customer requirements, identify resources and assess project risks. They create, develop, plan, write and edit operational, instructional, maintenance or test procedures for paper, multimedia or web-based publication, for non-technical and technical users.

This position requires a mix of mechanical and electrical technician skills.  The individual will be responsible for assisting in transforming a labor-intensive manufacturing plant into an automated manufacturing plant.  This will include, but not be limited to: robotics for press tending, automated inspection equipment including vision systems, and robotics for packaging and material handling.
(Qualified) TE employees on active discipline (documented Verbal within last 6 months; 1st Written or above within last 12 months) or who have voluntarily moved to another position/shift within last 12 months will not be considered for this opportunity.
 

What your background should look like:

•    Associates degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or Mechatronics Apprenticeship Papers/Degree
•    3 years experience in a manufacturing plant
•    Automation Design and Industrialization Experience – Robotics
•    Troubleshooting High and Low Voltage Systems
•    Vision Systems Experience – Programming and Troubleshooting
•    PLC Programming Experience/ Ladder Logic/ Function Block Programming
•    Experience with legacy computer systems (MS DOS)
•    Machining experience (Mill, Lathe, Grinder)
•    3D Printer fundamentals
•    Machine build experience
•    Ability to work towards completion of projects within defined schedules.
•    Strong interpersonal skills, including the demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multi-cultural environment.
•    Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize a rapidly changing set of objectives.
•    Capability to work in a fasted paced, dynamic global environment with multiple changing priorities.
•    Proficient in MS Office Software such as Excel, Word and Outlook.
