Job Requirements

The Mold Designer is responsible for designing, developing, and improving molds, tooling, and related components used in manufacturing processes. This role collaborates closely with engineering, production, and quality to create robust, cost-effective mold designs that meet product specifications, production requirements, and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

•    Design and develop injection molds in Creo from concept through first article

•    Design hot runner systems, conformal cooling circuits, cores, cavities, ejection, gating, and venting

•    Run MoldFlow Insight simulations to validate fill, warp, cooling, and cycle time before steel is cut

•    Work directly with STC Mold Design to align on internal design standards and tooling methodology

•    Support mold trials, process development, and first shot qualification with process engineering

•    Drive cycle time reduction through cooling design and hot manifold selection

•    Specify machining requirements and work with tool shops and best in class steel and coating selection

•    Integrate cavity pressure sensors and process monitoring into designs where applicable

•    Support existing tooling, not just new builds

•     Partner with quality on CPK targets and design molds capable of holding them in production

What your background should look like

•    Creo Parametric proficiency (required) and training available with STC Auto Group Shadowing.

•    MoldFlow Insight experience, not just Adviser

•    Working knowledge of hot runner systems (Husky, Mold-Masters, or equivalent)

•    Conformal cooling design experience

•    High cavitation mold design background, 16+ cavities preferred

•    Machining knowledge sufficient to specify tolerances and surface finish realistically

•    GD&T proficiency

•    Cavity pressure sensing experience (Kistler, RJG) a plus

•    10+ years mold design in a production injection molding environment, Will consider the right candidate from Manufacturing Technology degree in design Drafting. 

•    Experience working within or alongside a centralized Design tooling group preferred

COMPENSATION
•    Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $68,400 – $102,600 (subject to change dependent on physical location)
•    Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. TE Connectivity reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
•    Total Compensation = Base Salary + Incentive(s) + Benefits
