Job Overview
The Industrialization Engineer is responsible for all aspects of Industrialization of a New or Transferred Project. As a Project Core Team member, the Industrialization Engineer serves as the liaison between project and plant functions, coordinating industrialization timing ensuring plant readiness with all functions.The Industrialization Engineer is also a key contributor at early Project development stage, supporting Design phases (from G2 - award) to validate that product and process definition and align with Plant Operations and Industrial Strategy.
Your main tasks:
INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT
Responsible for the execution of work packages for the Industrial Development of the Project at Plant level:
- Industrial footprint
- CAPEX definition
- Plant equipment selection (new / reuse / shared capacity)
- Plant layout
- Internal flows
- Industrial trials
- Hiring & training plan in line with ramp-up plan
- Budget Launch Cost and ramp-up cost at Plant level
Responsible for the Plant launch industrial planning and budget from definition (Gate1-2) until execution (Gate 5-6)
Participate in the development of Make or Buy strategy led by Procurement/Purchasing, Program and Plant
PROCESS DEVELOPMENT
On behalf of the plant, approval of all early Process Development activities:
- Validate BOM
- Production Line Definition
- Equipment List, Tooling & Equipment Definition.
- EHS & Ergonomics standards.
PRODUCTION LAUNCH
- Management of launch activities (Run at Rate) at Plant level and staffing of the extended support team until full validation.
- Support production during the production ramp-up phase after project handover to the Plant
- Support Engineering Change Management as necessary
- Organize and prepare Customer events at the Plant (Run @ Rate)
TARGETS AND REPORTING
• Responsible for all Industrial Development objectives for the program at the plant
• Launch status, Launch Cost, respect of CAPEX, Launch Cost performance, Program Launch Report, Process and Machine Capabilities, line capacity, Direct Labor, PPM, Scrap-rework rate, change over time and on-time delivery
• Optimize CAPEX through footprint, capacity analysis and equipment selection
• Ensure the Industrial Development timing and milestones are passed successfully and on time
• Report all Industrial Development risk analysis and associated action plans within the Plant scope. Formalize escalation when required and coordinate with external support functions.
• Report progress status of Launch activities to the Plant Team and to the Project Team
What your background should look like
- Minimum master’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent professional experience
- 5 years of experience in Product/Process Engineering, Manufacturing, tooling design preferably in the automotive industry
- Project Management, Problem solving & Conflict Management skills, Customer focus
- Mastering Equipment/Tooling specifications, GD&T, P-FMEA and Control Plan
- Applied Lean Manufacturing principles: One piece flow Assembly Lines, SMED, Kanban Pull System, Plant Lay-out for flow, Lean Industrial Design, KAIZEN workshops
- Effective written and verbal Communication skills, coordination with multiple stakeholders in an international environment
- Minimum bi-lingual (English required)
- Understanding Finance Basics (Costing, Investments, plant P&L)
