Job Overview

TE Connectivity is looking for an experienced process engineer for its Transportation Sensors Engineering Organization as Process Engineer Core Team Member (CTM) part of the Transportation Sensors Global Team. This position reports to the Engineering Manager in charge of manufacturing process development for Transportation Sensors.   This person is responsible for the Technical Coordination and Launch of all projects related manufacturing processes according the Quality, Cost, and Timing targets (requested by customer and approved by PAC – Project Approval Committee).
The Process Engineer CTM will lead the development of the manufacturing process required to expand or extend our portfolio of sensor product serving Automotive and Industrial & Commercial Transportation (ICT) markets in America. This will require the selection of appropriate process technologies, to define process flow and release the corresponding specification for manufacturing processes and equipment suppliers. 
The Process Engineer CTM will work closely with the product and process development engineers from the Global Process Engineering Center of Excellence (COE), Winston-Salem and Mexico to ensure design for manufacturability for newly developed products. He/She will be part of the project development team as primary contact to develop the manufacturing processes for assigned projects. He/She will drive supplier selection and will work with manufacturing engineering teams from the targeted production site to successfully launch the project into production using DFSS methodologies and tools.
The ideal candidate would be a highly experienced process engineer with exceptional knowledge of sensors and process technologies used in sensor product, with vast experience developing and successfully launching products into the automotive and/or transportation industries.

What your background should look like:

• Process Engineer CTM is a key member of the cross functional project team of the TE LEAN Product Development (LEANPD), a phase gate project development framework.
• Defines state-of-the-art process flow to manufacture new products leveraging on product and process platform, design-to-manufacturing capabilities, roadmaps, and footprint strategy
• Defines process data inputs (cycle time, number of operators, scrap-%, capex) for the TE-internal manufacturing processes to enable the calculation of Product Cost, and P&L
• Is accountable for initial estimates and final quotation of external equipment. Supports Procurement during negotiation process to reach project financial targets.
• Selects best-in-class manufacturing processes and drives their qualification using Design For Six Sigma (DFSS) methodology and tools such as process DOE, statistical analysis, process capability, PFMEA, …
• Manage internal and external equipment suppliers during quoting, design, build, and release phase of equipment
• Supports Project Manager to monitor and to report “Actuals versus Target” for Capex and Performance Data (compared to approved Capex)
• Ensures application of design rules, Bill of Process and lessons learned in new concepts (Concurrent Engineering)
• Drives the B- and C-sample build, the debugging of tools and/or equipment until final release  
• Ensures timely execution of Manufacturing Readiness Level deliverables (MRL-Ownership)
• Coordinates DFM/DFA and Technical Manufacturing Process Reviews in alignment with supporting functions G1-G6 (Manufacturing Engineering, Shared Process Engineering, Automation, Process Experts…)
• Coordinate the transfer of tools and/or equipment to the final production location until Operations Sign-Off for G5

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in technical discipline (Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Material Science, Physics)
• 5 years of automotive process engineering or automotive manufacturing engineering of electronic or electromechanical products including full lifecycle development; all aspects from manufacturing process selection and qualification, manufacturing process flow definition, supplier selection to start of production
• Experience with manufacturing line supplier management (including negotiation) and collaborating with engineering teams in charge of product design
• Comprehensive technical understanding and proven experience in at least one important manufacturing process technology for sensors such as plastic overmolding, welding, winding, …
• Exceptional engagement, flexibility and resilience in project execution
• Outstanding ability to teamwork focused on commitment, with a goal-oriented way of working and data driven decision approach.
• Proficient in using MicroSoft applications and Statistical tools such as Minitab
• Advanced English
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with stakeholders, cross functional teams (engineering, product management, manufacturing, quality, purchasing, finance, sales) and subject matter experts.
• Exceptional analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills and ability to make decisions when presented with a series of challenges, ambiguous and vague requirements, conflicts and constraints
• Willingness to travel as required, 25% 

• Experience in sensor development, Rotary (preferable), position and speed sensors
• DFSS, or Six Sigma Black Belt Certified
• Functional Safety Knowledge and Expertise
• Standards Knowledge IATF 16949, EN 9100, ISO 9001, AEC-Q100
