Job Overview

Position Summary:
The Development Engineer provides economical solutions to create & improve processes for the manufacture of wire & cable.  This position interacts with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Cable Assembly Engineering, Manufacturing, Test Laboratories, raw material suppliers and equipment manufacturers. This position is responsible for the development & industrialization activities required of a high precision, high bandwidth product base.

Primary Responsibilities, Tasks & Deliverables:
•    Process / Product validation & transfer – Extrusion
•    Assist with product/process qualification
•    Interact with test lab on product/process qualification activities.
•    Support process improvement activities plus DOE, PFMEA, 8D & FA
•    Tooling Specification & Design.
•    Support additional manufacturing sites
•    Interact with outside equipment & tooling suppliers to ensure specification/requirements are met.
•    Support SQEs with raw material suppliers to develop and improve materials/quality/supply.
•    Support Cost Reduction Initiatives.
•    Support SAFE Activities
•    Support ISO Activities
•    Provide Technical support for maintenance activities.
•    Provide any support for any activities or projects necessary to support the business

Job Requirements/Experience Necessary
•    Plastics, Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering Degree preferred.
•    This is an entry Level Position
•    at least 5 years experience in a high volume production environment a plus.
•    Knowledge of extrusion monitoring & control systems desirable
•    Proficient in SPC/Six Sigma/Lean
•    CAD Experience Required
•    Knowledge of materials used in the manufacture of wire & cable a plus.
•    Knowledge of additional manufacturing processes & equipment used in the manufacture of wire & cable a plus.
